Re: Coronavirus

How are you doing Nodack? Are you going to be able to withstand this lack of gigs for a while? My youngest son was supposed to start his first real job out of college last Monday but it has been put on hold indefinitely. He had to apply for unemployment in the meantime. Thanks guys. Yes, all my gig...

Re: Coronavirus

Incidentally, I've been in a position to witness the birth of a gray market in facemasks and personal protective equipment that is linking Chinese producers and American hospitals, giving a big middle finger both to slow-as-hell FDA regulations and trade war customs regulations. The doctors are hopp...

Re: Coronavirus

Even if he is voted out of office, the GOP continues to get more insane with each election cycle and still holds enough power. The conservative line will be that Biden won because millions of illegals voted for him. Even if he is able to take office, he will not be able to govern. He will not be al...

Re: Coronavirus

Which is why it's really class warfare. The Rs and Ds are fine fighting with each other because it divides the people and keeps them all (and their lobbyists) employed and wealthy. Media channels and outlets make billions as well. Occupy Wall Street had the right idea with the 1%, but couldn't sust...

Re: Coronavirus

Big scandal story broke yesterday. It seems that multiple US Senators received briefings about how bad corona would be here in the US in January, and in response, they sold massive amounts of stock before the economy crashed. They then went on to downplay how bad corona would be to ensure that they...

Burr could have fucked up that particular narrative for Trump:

But I do note that Trump's approval rating hasn't budged.

For those of you interested in investing, I just bought SVXY because VIX has never stayed at these levels for more than a couple of weeks, even in late 2008 it retreated down to the 30s quickly. It will be the same I feel. Wonder how you gents feel about this. I have no idea what this means virt FY...

Re: Coronavirus

You know what's going to be really depressing? When the virus starts to run through jails, homeless shelters, and immigrant detention centers ("kids in cages" centers). They're going to suffer so greatly, and they'll get almost no help from the government or this administration. :-/ Or just the hom...

Re: NBA/China/Hong Kong Controversy

This isn’t going away any time soon. It did. When was the last time you heard about it. I'm not saying the covid issue was conveniently timed but I'm not saying it wasn't either. Just saying food for thought. Still hasn't gone away. But electoral victories cool tempers as folks realize that their p...

Well, my parents insisted on going to church so I know how you feel.

Regarding 0% this is the rate at which the Fed loans money to the banks. Up to the banks to set a rate to lend to you.

Re: NBA Season Suspended due to COVID-19

I should add that we have only administered 6000 tests across the US. For comparison, UK has already tested 30k and they have only 20% of the US population. It’s a joke. We’ve asked for testing of patients and been declined several times already. According to some statistics, South Korea has tested...

Re: NBA Season Suspended due to COVID-19

My wife had to go to the hospital this week, and the room next to hers had a COVID-19 patient in it toward the end. She and I both may have been exposed to it now. Pretty scary. This is not good practice. You're probably ok but still not a good feeling. I got some important new information. There a...

Re: Coronavirus

Let me know if you have any questions about how to ride it out, have done it here at HK. would love to hear some advice. The coronavirus is functionally extinct "in the wild" in Hong Kong and this is how it was done: DO practice social distancing, stay at least 6 feet away from folks, avoid large s...

Re: NBA Season Suspended due to COVID-19

I know this goes without saying, but I sincerely hope that every one of you and your family manage to stay healthy. Statistically some of us are likely to get the darn thing before all is said and done. Or at the very least, some of our loved ones will get it. I hope for the best and hope that ever...

Re: Coronavirus

Never would I have imagined that even a US under Trump would have botched things this badly. Experts agree that the US should have been able to contain with enough testing. But the US tested 2500 while South Korea tested 200,000. How is this even possible? Now I expect a repeat of Wuhan and Milan in...
