Re: Eric Bledsoe [RFA]

I kind of wish the Suns would just say to Eric, "This is our final offer. 4/48. You have 48 hours to accept or reject. If you don't take it, we won't make you any other offers and you'll have to play out the QO." I'm sure he'd blink. There's not really any reason to have to have him signe...

Re: Eric Bledsoe [RFA]

If push came to shove, Bledsoe could get an offer sheet from another team and force the Suns to match. Well, maybe not $11M at this point, but a lot more than the QO, and with other player-favoring terms, such as a PO for a second year. Playing hardball would provoke a hardball response and save th...

Re: Eric Bledsoe [RFA]

The real deadline for Bledsoe is Oct 1 - once it gets here, unless the Suns choose to extend the time he can accept the qualifying offer he loses any leverage he might have had, and would be looking at being a restricted free agent next summer if he doesn't come to terms.

Re: Eric Bledsoe [RFA]

Hey Bedsoe - If you want to take it out on somebody, take it out on Dallas and Charlotte. They're the ones who offered the money to somebody else.

Falk still represents several players including Greg Monroe, Roy Hibbert, Elton Brand, Otto Porter, Evan Turner, Austin Rivers and Jeff Green. Not quite the same as representing Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, John Stockton, Moses Malone, Dikembe Mutombo, Alonzo Mourning, Allen Ivers...

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency 2 (new)

Only the 76’ers? Sounds like Bledsoe is in a very weak bargaining position. He can take the QO, take what the Suns are offering, or sit out. For all intents and purposes, the free agency period for max and near-max contracts is over, and Bledsoe missed out. The only leverage an RFA has is to get an...

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency 2 (new)

I'm not sure why everyone is so stunned that he's demanding the max. I've been operating under that assumption for awhile now, and all signs have pointed to him demanding that. His contract demands aside, there are too many basketball reasons that make it prudent not to retain Bledsoe. I wish the f...

Re: NBA Lottery reform proposed at Summer League

I think that midseason tournament sounds kind of weird and lame. It could be neat, but, what's the incentive to do well in it? You'd need to really give the winner something special like a guaranteed playoff spot or something of that nature for them to be willing to put their health on the line. Ex...

Re: NBA Lottery reform proposed at Summer League

Time to shitcan the lottery and just go back to drafting by inverse record (and possibly a coin flip). You're always going to have accusations of tanking, so ignore them and go with the fairest system.

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency

A year ago, the feeling around the league was that this was one of the worst-constructed rosters in the NBA. Since then they've dumped players (Beasley, Marshall, Brown, W. Johnson), traded older guys who weren't really part of their future (Scola, Dudley), let some older role players go as free age...

The Memphis team in the ABA was the same way in their dying days (signing a bunch of players from the Indiana ABA championship teams).

Maybe this explains their devotion to Elvis until the bitter end.

Re: Isaiah Thomas to Suns in Sign and Trade

I know there are a lot of people saying how the Suns have four point guards that will be vying for playing time, but Bledsoe is as much a shooting guard as he is a point guard. And as many people have noted - Ennis will spend some time in the D-League, if not a lot of time there. My only concern rig...

Re: Isaiah Thomas to Suns in Sign and Trade

Agreed, he should have been on that round table talking about "I knew it was over when...". I've never seen a player on the backside of 30 ever ever ever come back to even close to what they used to be. Only one - Dominique Wilkins tore his at 32 and then came back the next year to averag...

Re: Isaiah Thomas to Suns in Sign and Trade

I'm guessing the Suns are about $17 million under the cap now if they renounce Randolph and Smith.

Most of that will disappear when they re-sign Bledsoe of course.

If he's made as big a step forward as we're led to believe by the reports on his summer progress, they'll make room for him somehow.

Re: Isaiah Thomas to Suns in Sign and Trade

The Suns are still in the "accumulating assets" stage of rebuilding, but they're getting close to the "fitting the pieces together" stage. They look pretty good at PG, SG and SF, and I'm optimistic about the C position, but other than Markieff, they are in desperate need of anoth...
