Re: Kyrie Irving Trade Countdown
Time is on our side here. Doing nothing is a completely viable option for us. Kyrie isn't a huge upgrade, and Bledsoe isn't demanding a trade. Conversely, doing nothing is NOT an option for Cleveland. Irving must be traded before camp starts. I just wish there were some way to dump Brandon Knight....

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Guys, mark this down as the day I officially started worrying about Dragan. I've been one of his biggest supporters here. However his play for Croatia has been even worse than Summer League. I'm worried he doesn't have much of a competitive drive and that's going to render him too timid to succeed ...

Re: Kyrie Irving Trade Countdown
Ugh. No. For taking on bad salary of a player we don't need and giving up our best player we need at least two nearly unprotected firsts, the way we did with Dragic.
I'm not that enthralled with Irving. Bled, Warren, 1st for Irving and Frye. Take it or leave it.

Re: Kyrie Irving Trade Countdown
Cap is correct. Totally different situations. Also, if we did trade Bled, JJ, and a 1st for Irving and Channing Frye, I believe we would compete for an 8th seed in the playoffs. Irving/Ullis, Booker, Dudley/Warren, Frye, and Chandler/Williams is actually a really solid rotation of above average to a...

Re: Brandon Knight Torn ACL - Entire 2017-2018 Season in Jeopardy
Addition by subtraction... We're a much better team on the court without him.
Next summer, when he only has two years left on his contract, maybe we can dump him a little more easily.

Re: Around the League: The Offseason
There may be an opportunity in this even if we don't land Irving, to take some bad salary back while getting rid of Knight, who needs to be gone as much as Irving does. Cavs have some awful contracts in Shumpert and Tristan Thompson. If we added a PG in the trade of some sort, losing Bled and Knight...

Very good comparison, though I think Peters is a bit better shooter and rebounder.ShelC wrote:Pat. Garrity.
Keep in mind, Garrity had a 10 year NBA career. That's great ROI on a late 2nd round pick.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
They won't keep him. They won't trade him with anything more than the '18 Miami pick. They aren't buying out $44M either. The most they have ever bought out was Beasley's deal which I think they just finished paying for last year. It would be on the books for the next 7 years if they stretched Knig...

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Suns have 3 realistic options on Knight: 1. Keep him, and hope that he doesn't disrupt things in the locker room too badly. This seems pretty implausible, given that he has demonstrated he just wants to get as far away from the team as possible. 2. Trade him, and use lottery picks as bait (a la Kurt...

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
If we can get a trade of Courtney Lee for Knight + Len, we still win.

This is like getting a sixth man of the year for less than the mid-level exception. Freaking amazing.

Re: Suns 2017 Free Agency
Len ranks 22nd in rebound rate for NBA centers, out of 60. While that sounds good, keep in mind that there's only 30 starters among those 60. So, overall, he's somewhere around average to slightly below average among starting centers, but above average overall. He ranks 30th in defensive real plus m...

Re: Suns 2017 Free Agency
Agreed on both Len and Williams (and Lopez). The thing with Lopez is that our expectations were probably skewed because we drafted him and wanted him to be better, not unlike Len. And Williams... yea, guys like him can be found just about every year and rarely do 6-9 rebounding centers ever really ...

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
We need to clear out the logjam. Too many young guys that we need to develop, zero belief that we're going to the playoffs. Clearing out future cap space is going to be important. Len is a solid backup. Nothing more. If the choice is between him and Alan Williams, let Len walk Keep Williams. Still r...

Re: Suns draft Josh Jackson at #4
I didn't see anything in that highlight reel that wasn't a dunk. Kid can't shoot, and that severely limits his utility to us, given hardly anyone else on the team can either.

Re: Suns draft Alec Peters at 54
This guy's game is similar to that one foreign shooter we had on our team couple years ago and he was actually somewhat decent. Gosh I can't think of his name right now but he was on the Nets before he played for us I think and after he played for us he got overpaid by some other team. Too lazy rig...

Re: Suns draft Josh Jackson at #4
Len is gone this summer. Someone will overpay him. I'd be happy to let him walk, and keep Alan Williams long term.
Still, Bledsoe and Chandler don't appear to be the team's future. Then there's Knight. The only real question is whether he's more of an albatross or a millstone.

Re: Suns draft Alec Peters at 54
I REALLY like this pick. He has two (three) college stats that translate extremely well to the NBA: 3 point %, Rebounding, and FT %. He's a better shooter than Reed: in his Junior year he shot 44%. Almost 90% FT shooter. Right around 50% from the field. Teletovic is good comparison. He had a down ye...

Re: Suns Draft Davon Reed at #32
Why? He could have been had significantly lower according to everyone but Gambo. He's a good, but not great 3 point shooter. He needs to bring something else to the table to be worth it though.
