Re: Around the League: Coronavirus Break

When the NBA announced this Orlando plan my first thought was, "July 31st is quite a ways into the future. A lot can change." Now I'm wondering what the hell they're even thinking. Just cancel the damn thing already. There’s too much money on the table to walk away. Yeah, you're right. It's sad. A ...

Re: Racism in the US

How is it Republicans today fantasize about the South rising again and fly the Confederate flag? The thing that really blows my mind is that the Confederate flag is being flown proudly by extremists who aren't even in the South. People in the Dakotas, in Oklahoma, in New England are flying it. You ...

Our leaders and the media tell us to hate each other every single day. That’s where we get it from.
partially this, but also they tell us not to believe anything you see/read/hear.

Re: Suns News: Coronavirus Break

So, one point of confusion. Not only do the Suns have to get within 4 games of the 8th seed after 8 games, they also have to be the 9th seed in order to get to the 2 game play-in tournament, correct? IOW, it they get within 4 but are the 10th seed, they're done, right? Correct. Even if they are tie...

Re: youth sports

Not soccer, but we used to be baseball/softball and basketball. Then we moved to the midwest and added lacrosse and bowling (!?!) to the list. Now we are avoiding everything because you can't really distance properly or wear masks for all of it.

Re: TV Shows / Movies

I'm not like that at all with TV shows for some reason. I have no desire to watch GoT or the Sopranos again. Maybe if there's a Breaking Bad marathon on TV I'll watch a few episodes and get back into it, but I won't make it a point to watch it on my own. I've re-watched the entirety of Game of Thro...

P.S. If you haven't signed up for her newsletter, you really should. It is free until the games start, and then still some content will be free. Here is a nice summary of what to expect:

Today's article from Gina on the practice at Veteran's Memorial Coliseum today. https://valleytales.substack.com/p/monty-williams-orlando-restart-monumental Thought this was interesting: Williams also did not confirm that Kelly Oubre Jr. will sit out the games in Orlando following meniscus surgery i...

Re: TV Shows / Movies

I would say I don't regularly re-watch movies unless I really liked it or it's a classic and one of my all-time favorites. I get itches to re-watch Office Space, Airplane, Alien, Aliens all the time for example. Joker was a case of having seen it and then I was with a friend on vacation that really...

Re: TV Shows / Movies

Wife and I watched Joker and really disliked it. It was so dark and depressing, and the movie seemed way too sympathetic to the Joker and the awful life and circumstances that drove him to his life of crime. I found the whole performance kind of awkward by Joaquin Phoenix, who I normally love. The ...

Re: Democratic primary watch

From what I read, the Trump campaign does a lot of goofy promotions such as, "Only 10 platinum memberships left! Get yours," or, "Donate today for a chance to meet Trump in Omaha!" Seems cheesy but probably effective at getting people to react. Both campaigns are doing this. I get inundated every d...

Re: Around the League: Coronavirus Break

There is no way this season will finish. If it does, it will be with 50 guys from the G-league playing. Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but I think we’ll see less positive tests once they get to Orlando. While it’s not exactly a bubble since Disney employees will come and go, I can’t imagine they’d...

Re: TV Shows / Movies

I think both of those guys played Joker as a villain for villain's sake. I get that they were written that way, but still. A villain is always a hero of his own story. I haven't seen Joker yet, and not sure if I will anytime soon. I still have only seen about half of the 20 Marvel movies.

Re: TV Shows / Movies

Been watching Sci-Fi movies with my wife when our daughter goes to sleep at night. Purchased several on Google Play Movies. Arrival, Interstellar, The Abyss and Contact. We've yet to watch Contact but the others were fantastic. We've also started Fargo. First season, episode 5. Contact is really go...

My wife and I watched Picard and were disappointed. Didn't feel like Trek to me. Won't go into detail because I don't want to spoil it, but maybe when you're done watching it we can discuss. I've meant to check out The Leftovers. I also should finish Silicon Valley; I've seen parts of the first two...

Re: TV Shows / Movies

The Fall. It isn't a new show, but one that seems to get lost a bit. It was really, really good. Lately I watched all of Ozark. I thought season 1 was good, season 2 ok, and season 3 meh, but I read a ton of people that thought it got better each year. YMMV. I watched Normal People and thought it wa...
