Re: Around the League: The Off-season

Pistons just waived Joe Johnson. Savage. Cmon home, Joe! https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/pistons-waive-big3-mvp-joe-johnson-in-order-to-cut-roster-down-to-15-per-report/ LOL, right on cue: "The Phoenix Suns should re-sign Joe Johnson for one-year. by Adam Maynes 1 month ago Follow @Adam4america"...

Wow. That's a big deal about Zion. Poor Pelicans. (Stein also got his last name wrong!)

Re: Around the League: The Off-season

What are the current CBA rules about trading these guys on these extensions? They can still be traded, right? Their re-signing doesn't necessarily mean they're dead set on staying on their current teams?

Zach Lowe on Rubio signing: I was a bit puzzled by the choice; three years seems like too much since Rubio isn’t an ideal fit next to Booker because he struggles as an off-ball shooter.
If only Jeremy Lin had been available! Or Derrick Rose!

Re: Polls

I really don't think the "Pocahontas" thing is going to stick. It's a manufactured controversy by Fox News/GOP and I don't think normal voters care about it at all. Warren is well liked by Native American advocacy groups, and the tribes in general would much rather have her as POTUS than 45. IMO if ...

Re: 2019 NBA regular season predictions

We'll probably lose a lot of our games in the first few weeks. We have a ton of new pieces, a new coach/system, and there were only a few preseason games to get familiar. And we're playing many top teams like the Nuggets and Warriors and Clippers. We shouldn't win most of those games. But that's oka...

Re: Around the League: The Off-season

There are rumors around Indiana that there are chemistry issues between Turner and Sabonis. They play the same position and both want the primary/starting role. I wish we could try for a trade for Sabonis. I like Saric, but Sabonis is my dream PF who we should have drafted instead of Chriss some yea...

Re: 2019 NBA regular season predictions

Dang, I forgot that Indiana will be without Oladipo for the first several months. I have them rated way too high. As I read columns about predictions, I also notice that most folks have Miami ranked much higher than I do.

Re: Polls

Here are some polls from the Iowa caucus. Elizabeth Warren is now ahead in Iowa polling averages for the first time. Warren also leads in New Hampshire. Biden has a huge lead in South Carolina; he has been much more popular with black voters than Warren or Sanders. Biden is also ahead in Nevada. htt...

Re: Suns News: Preseason 2019

The NBA media likes two kinds of teams: ones that were good last year, and ones that made splashy acquisitions. So they'll overrate a team like the Lakers or Nets, and they'll underrate a team that keeps its strong core intact like the Blazers, or a team that quietly gets incrementally better, like ...

Re: Polls

Here is some new polling data from Minnesota. I think Trump is in big trouble in the rust belt region overall. He had somewhat of a foothold in Minnesota, but now it's slipping, and the other states in the area really dislike him. I don't think he can win re-election with numbers in this range. http...

Polls

Thought I'd make a thread where we could post various polls as they come out and discuss them. These can be Dem primary polls, general election polls, state-specific or national, whatever.

Re: Around the League: The Off-season

Ex-Suns players are going to s#!t on the Suns as long as Sarver is the owner. We're just going to have to wait for him to go broke and sell.

Re: 2019 NBA regular season predictions

That's also assuming that Porzingis will be able to play close to 100%. He had a brutal injury. What's to say that he will be back at full strength? It may be a bit of a down year for him as he continues to recover.

Re: 2019 NBA regular season predictions

Thanks for making this thread. I will say that I have been reluctant to write up predictions this year because I think this is one of the hardest years to predict in a long time. The talent in the league really spread itself out this offseason. A lot of teams have 1-2 studs and it's hard to find the...

Re: Suns News: Preseason 2019

I think it's pretty straightforward. He missed a hell of a lot of games in his Suns career. That's why he was expendable. And he did not play good defense. And he didn't pass. And he couldn't shoot 3s (though he improved on this a bit in his last season). And we wanted to use his cap space for othe...

Re: Oubre or Mikal Bridges as starting small forward?

I am not going to read into preseason numbers like that. Maybe Ayton didn't want to bang around and risk his body during the meaningless preseason. What's the point of that?

I don't think we should have to take Wiggins to get KAT. We'd just have to include Ayton and other assets. They want to include Wiggins, then no deal, IMO.

Re: Around the League: The Off-season

It's possible that Chriss could have thrived in a healthier org than ours. But it's also possible that he's a knucklehead who would have washed out. A lot of our guys (e.g. Bender) feel to me like they would have been great on the Spurs. Wouldn't Pop have turned Bender into a deadly weapon? But when...
