And unless they sign someone to a 1-year deal, money they spend this year is money they can't spend next year when Chandler and Dudley come off the cap.
Booker's extension starts at $26M next year which is basically the total of his current salary + Chandler & Dudley's current salary.

Re: Rank our draft, and give your reasoning!

Not sure anyone cares about my rating since I'm not much of a draft expert, but here goes. Ayton: A- Yes I would have preferred Doncic, but Deandre is a monster and will be at least an Amare level player for us. I'm o.k. with that. Especially if he can pull down 10 boards a night. That's all we ever...

Re: NBA DRAFT NIGHT 2018

The knock is that he's only played PG 1 full season so he's still got a lot to learn. I honestly think that's why they drafted him. They mentioned in the press conference yesterday that they were impressed by how much he improved in 6 months. To go from never playing PG to playing it this well.

Re: NBA DRAFT NIGHT 2018

I gotta say, I'm cautiously optimistic about Okobo. He looks like he does a variety of things very well offensively in terms of spot up shooting, off the bounce, stepping in to shoot off screens, keeping defenders on his hip when he drives, changing speeds to create space, PnR reads, playing downhi...

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News

BTW, I think Ulis has one of those first-rounder style contracts, where we optioned his third season before the start of his second, and will have to decide on his fourth before the start of his third. So his 2018-19 money is guaranteed at this point. But we can clear the kind of cap room McD is ta...

Re: NBA DRAFT NIGHT 2018

That achilles. Mathews should have teached them something. Although I get them. Still, if I were the Mavs, I'd try to force HOU's hand and make a big offer to Capela. You could be getting a perfect fit for your wonderboy while also partially defusing a west contender. I've felt like Matthews recove...

I think Sexxxton has a chance to be a pretty good role player but with Lebron most likely leaving, why swing for the fences and go MPJ??
Sorry for replying to old stuff for last night but from what I hear LeBron is either staying or going to the Lakers and it's 50/50 at this point.

Re: NBA DRAFT NIGHT 2018

I'm just now getting around to seeing what Dallas paid for moving up to get Doncic. Now... in a vacuum, you might say that it was a heavy price to move up 2 spots, but I don't think it was nearly enough. If evaluating strictly by tiers you get possibly the best player in the draft and all you had to...

David did a nice job covering the Suns current cap situation if anyone is curious. Looks like we can pretty easily get to $17M and slightly further with some work.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News

I keep seeing Beverley's name everywhere. Is it just because people aren't familiar with his injury or are they really that keen on getting a guy coming off of microfracture and meniscus repair at the same time?

Re: Introductory Press Conference is 1 PM AZ

Ya, I don't think we need to break the bank for a PG. I really think Okobo can be the long-term answer. Add a stop gap like Collison or just see what Knight can do. I think it's very possible Payton plays on the QO if we extend it to him, so he's another option. I want to see him play against NBA c...

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News

The Pelicans seem intent on retaining Rondo but I can't say if Rondo feels the same. I don't think they are giving up on the young PFs. At least with Bender they knew it was a multi-year project because he was so young. Bender is still more than a full year younger than Mikal Bridges and Chriss just...

Also, his range doesn't extend to the 3-point line. Smart player though. Always makes the right play. Sort of a twiggy version of Dudley before he added the 3-point shot.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News

Here's an idea... and don't shoot me because it's just an idea. What would you ask from Houston to take on Ryan Anderson's deal? It's 2 more seasons at $20M a year. What if we mitigated some of the cost by sending out Dudley or Chandler? A future 1st? Two? They want the space to try and sign LeBron ...
