Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season

A lot of these reports (Woj's included) about how desirable a particular RFA is are generated by that player's agent to drum up interest and offers.

Re: Around the League: The Off-season

Would you guys be interested in bringing back PJ Tucker in the a 3 team trade even if it helped out Houston? It would be a great way to introduce Cam to Phoenix Suns culture. Welcome, Cam. We drafted you because we love your shooting and you are ready to play. Meet Mikal, who we just traded up to d...

Re: Free Agent Targets

I don't think anyone is taking Jackson without getting back a future asset, possibly in addition to either Melton or Okobo. In this case we're taking on the additional salary, and a significant amount. Also, adding Okobo (who I'd happily include) or Melton (who I'd be reluctant to) defeats the purp...

Re: Free Agent Targets

Trade idea: Goran Dragic for Josh Jackson We get a PG placeholder for one season. McDonough's gone, so Dragic feels better about coming back for round 3. Miami opens up $12M in cap room to pursue free agents. Kicks the tires on a prospect in JJ. I was never a huge fan of bringing Dragic back, but it...

Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season

But on this team I think Russell is a much better fit. We need a guy to handle the ball and run the offense so that we don't have to watch Point Booker all game any more. We need a guy who will go get his own shot, drive to the basket, pull up, and who can also take a pass and hit an open shot. Rus...

Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season

Ya, we are set up pretty nicely to strike out big in 2020 or 2021 free agency. A big reason why I don’t think we need to do anything drastic this free agency. Just sign a competent pg to a 2 year deal and go from there. Fixed that for you. Nobody’s coming to Phx in FA unless we turn this clown show...

Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season

As far as last year's roster, I found it "funny" that according to HoopsHype, our opening night starting PG last season is currently the 37th best free agent point guard on the market. Not the 37th best free agent or the 37th best point guard in the NBA. Rather, the 37th best free agent point guard....

Re: Free Agent Targets

If Rubio and Beverly cost the same amount, Rubio is a no-brainer for me. He's a significantly better all-around player than Beverly and probably a better defender, too. Beverly is a more reliable 3 point shooter, but if your team is inbounding the ball to a PG and needed a basket, I'd trust Rubio t...

Re: Grade the Suns' 2019 draft day

David Aldridge weighs in on the Suns draft: “I can’t believe they took Amare Stoudemire over Jared Jeffries.” He'll always have that connection in my mind, too. It wasn't just that he was wrong about that pick, because plenty of people were. It was that he was still in the Jeffries>Stoudemire camp ...

Re: Free Agent Targets

If we're pursuing a point guard with a questionable jump shot, I'd rather pursue Tyus Jones than Ricky Rubio. Another good backup. We already have 3. Nope. Tyus is better than all of them. Perfect age, ridiculous assist to turnover ratio, good defender. Minnesota looked better with him as a starter...

However, it’s time to stop fooling around and start winning some games. Let’s hope Williams has the autonomy to play the best players and try his best to win games without any ulterior motives.
He does. There's no way Sarver is eating 5 years of salary.

Re: Free Agent Targets

I really though trade was the best avenue for us to improve our team, rather than free agency. The problem is, we're pretty much out of assets now unless we want to include Bridges or future picks. Prior to the draft, we had our first rounder, second rounder and the MIL pick. None of those are in pl...

Re: Grade the Suns' 2019 draft day

I don't think you've seen Saric play if you're comparing him to Ryan Anderson. He's considerably better than Anderson, but in many ways his role is supposed to be the same as Anderson's was. Without a decent PG and poor shooters elsewhere on the team, Ryan failed miserably. I'm not certain that put...
