Re: Suns News: Week 18 2/11-2/17

Ryan & Co. negotiated with Anderson's agent to reduce the guaranteed money to essentially match Knight's salary. All of that would have been pointless if waive/stretch wasn't planned. I would be very surprised if Sarver signed off on a waive/stretch of $19 million; $15.6 million was probably hard to...

Re: Suns News: Week 18 2/11-2/17

How about we target players that are more than just bit players? Mirotic, Portis, Randle, Aminu, Jamychael Green, Vonleh, Tobias Harris. Or making a play at a trade for A. Gordon, Dario Saric, maybe Larry Nance. Just examples of some players that actually produce while on the court. I really like N...

Re: Suns Trade for Tyler Johnson/Wayne Ellington

I'd be willing to pay a lot for Monte Morris. Keep an eye on Isaiah Briscoe too. At Kentucky, he showed tremendous defensive ability and toughness. But his shot was nowhere near NBA-ready. He has put some time in and is hitting the outside jumper and setting up teammates off the dribble. This would...

Re: Suns News: Week 18 2/11-2/17

My bad, we gave up 3.6 million in cap space. But now we’ll also have a 19 million dollar expiring contract, instead of 15.6 million dollars of dead money on our books. The $19 million expiring contract has little value. Cap space for this upcoming offseason is much more valauble; it is a terrific f...

Re: Suns News: Week 18 2/11-2/17

Kleber is an older Dragan Bender. That's a silly statement. I would be ecstatic if Bender was as good as Kleber. Kleber has been a difference-maker on the defensive end, and a solid stretch option at the 4 spot at the other end of the floor. He would improve this Suns team. There is nothing wrong w...

Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread

Right now, if we got the #3 pick in the lottery and Zion and Morant have already been taken at #1 and #2, who would you want the Suns to pick as #3? Trade down, pick up another asset. In such case the pick loses value after the lottery. But the top two are probably worth the gamble. It's not a gamb...

Re: Suns News: Week 18 2/11-2/17

I’m not as down on James Jones as most are here. I do think he has a strong reputation amongst players in the league and that is helpful. Same exact thing was said about Earl Watson. Tyler Johnson has looked bad so far, but it’s early and we gave up nothing to get him, so I’m fine with it. It kills...

Re: Suns News: Week 16 1/28-2/3

You can't be this bad and give up on developing talent. You just can't. It's clear James Jones has sold Sarver on this idea that the Suns have been so bad because they are so young (never mind the fact that some of the worst performances this year came from their most veteran players). All this is g...

Re: Suns News: Week 16 1/28-2/3

“We wanted to go into the trade deadline for the purpose of getting a player and not a project,” Jones said. “Not a prospect, but a player. So we got one and we’re happy that he’s with us and hopefully he can fill a void for us. The point guard position has been a position where we really haven’t h...

Re: Suns News: Week 16 1/28-2/3

Josh has looked great for a while now. Settled down. Eh, it has been about six games. He is playing better, but this is two years in a row where he has been abysmal for about 60% of the season. Playing well when guys are injured and the team is cemented in the cellar of the conference isn't good en...

Payton was having a good year with the Pelicans before getting injured. Alex Len isn't anything special, but he is a solid NBA player.

I’ll admit i have not watched much Boston basketball this year but have you guys seen his splits as a starter vs reserve?

At least on paper seems like an entirely different player.
Good point.

Re: Suns Trade for Tyler Johnson/Wayne Ellington

Now, given the considerable tax relief MIA is getting, we should have gotten some kind of draft stock, even if just a distant second rounder. Agreed. This is the other thing that bothers me about the trade. We say to Miami, "Hey, you need L-Tax relief? Sure we'll help you out. Our price? Tyler John...

Re: Suns Trade for Tyler Johnson/Wayne Ellington

I'm also not bent out of shape of about adding $3M to the cap next year because I've never once believed the Suns are a FA destination. The best they could probably do is a mid-level guy like Rubio, and space can be cleared to get someone like that if they wanted to try it. But we've been clearing ...

What about TJ for somebody like Dario Saric? Not enough?
I would be open to that deal. I'd ask for Bayless for his expiring deal and a lottery protected pick, or a 2nd rounder plus Keita Bates-Diop.
