Re: Free Agent Targets

That's why you offer him a prove it contract. 3 year deal, first 2 years guaranteed, 8 figures a year.

Re: Free Agent Targets

If we're pursuing a point guard with a questionable jump shot, I'd rather pursue Tyus Jones than Ricky Rubio. Another good backup. We already have 3. Nope. Tyus is better than all of them. Perfect age, ridiculous assist to turnover ratio, good defender. Minnesota looked better with him as a starter...

Re: Free Agent Targets

Is there a max guy you would go after, INF? Who are the max guys? Butler, Durant. Irving, Kawhi, Klay -- none of those guys are considering Phoenix. There are the guys that could get huge deals, perhaps even max deals: D'Angelo Russell, Tobias Harris, Kemba Walker. I don't have any interest in Russ...

Re: Free Agent Targets

Also, go back and look at the draft choices after 12. Donte Divencenzo, Lonnie Walker, Chandler Hutchison...these are the same level prospects that were chose in this year's draft in the same spots, and in some cases, the prospects were worse last year.

Let's not create a false narrative.

Re: Free Agent Targets

I can’t remember which podcast, but it had the wizards pick of Rui as a bigger reach than Cam Johnson. That's the problem with rating this draft. Most of these guys would have gone in the 2nd round last year. They are all a reach if you just look at the draft position. Last year has the potential t...

I certainly don't think it is crazy to not like Rui, but calling him a reach is baseless. He was a project lottery pick in the majority of mock drafts.

Ty can end up Nash or Casey Jacobsen. Who knows whether Jarett Culver will end up Brandon Roy or Julian Wright.
I'll go ahead and end the suspense for you: Ty Jerome will not be as good as Steve Nash and Jarrett Culver will be better than Julian Wright.

Re: NBA DRAFT 2019 THREAD

Who would you rather have: Casey Jacobsen or Cam Johnson? Setting aside what we know about Jacobsen's NBA career, that actually is a good comparison. Jacobsen was drafted because the Suns were trying to fill a specific need for shooting. Ironically, I felt at the time that their were better players...

Call Dedmon asap with 4 years starting at $14M and I think you have a pretty good chance.
Too much for me. I wouldn't offer more than 3yrs/$33 million.

Re: Around the League: The Off-season

Also helps that they clearly know what they are looking for as they have stable systems in place. PHX used to be like that for some time under Mike D, as imperfect as his tenure was. For some reason, the first thing I thought of when I read this was M****s B***s. I'm so glad we dump those crappy dr...

Re: NBA DRAFT 2019 THREAD

It's not that I don't see it, I just think his pluses outweigh his minuses. Saric is a better rebounder than Oubre and Warren, so that's an improvement. Plus, Ayton has the potential to be a top 3 rebounder in the league. Defense is a different story. With the acquisitions of Bridges and Oubre, I th...

Re: Free Agent Targets

Our biggest weaknesses in the frontcourt revolve around defense and athleticism. That's where passing on Brandon Clarke hurts. I know you didn't like him, but his combination athleticism, shot-blocking, and savvy doesn't grow on trees. I would love to see him meet at the rim all those guys Ayton ne...

Re: NBA DRAFT 2019 THREAD

Cam and Ty are two of the most nba ready prospects in the draft. Ty isn't NBA ready if he can't play at the NBA level. And in general, being in your early 20s doesn't mean that you are NBA-ready, just like being 18 or 19 doesn't automatically mean you have upside or potential. INF, I haven't seen y...

Re: NBA DRAFT 2019 THREAD

Between James telling us his focus is mostly going to be free agency, and acting like he's finished already and the sky is falling is unhelpful. Go ahead rant away. Free agency doesn't have anything to do with drafting well. There isn't a rule against pursuing free agents AND making smart draft sel...

Here is something to remember about Brogdon: In college, Brogdon had surgery to fuse a bone in his left foot, which multiple front-office league sources have indicated drew medical red flags prior to the 2016 draft and could cause issues in the future. https://nba.nbcsports.com/2017/08/31/report-buc...

Listening to The Lowe Post, Zach Lowe is dumbfounded by the Cam Johnson pick. He and Bobby Marks also can't believe they gave up #32 in the Warren deal. Marks even thought when the deal was announced that the Pacers were going to have to give up their first rounder. http://www.espn.com/espnradio/pla...

Golden State is killing it: https://twitter.com/ChrisBHaynes/status/1141931512469839877 That's a great get for them. I love how aggressive they are in finding solid prospects to develop and/or fill out the roster. Alen Smailagic looks intriguing. Eric Paschall should be a good fit. I'm only uncertai...

Yeah, White most definitely wasn't being disrespectful. My point was that he was genuinely shocked. SHOCKED. You shouldn't shock a guy's teammate when you select him in the lottery.
