Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
I'm firmly of the belief that you don't need a top notch SF as your top player to be a contender. And I don't regard LeBron or Durant as SFs, per se. Those are transcendent talents. I think you need a SF to mostly shoot the 3 and defend. If they can handle and distribute, fine. But this is a guard's...

Re: Around the league: June 2014
The Raptors traded Steve Novak to the Jazz to free up money for Grevis. Looks like the raps will re-sign him for 4.5 over 2-3 years.

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
I honestly think we're solid at positions 1-3 (assuming we re-sign Bledsoe). It'd basically the 4spot I'm most worried about, and the 5 spot if Len doesn't pan out. So all this talk of Hayward, Deng, Ariza is nonsense to me. Unless you're talking LeBron, I say there's no need to spend on a SF. I per...

Re: Around the league: June 2014
Sounds like you're advocating signing a guy just to make a move because we have money to spend and because he's regarded as that next tier of FA so he's deserving of X amount of money. I'd rather not go that route. Just a difference of opinion. I, personally, don't think you're going to be a contend...

Re: Around the league: June 2014
That's how teams get caught in bad contracts and handcuff themselves for the next 3 years. If you're a team with an owner that can pay, go for it. We're not one of those teams.

Re: Around the league: June 2014
Giving Hayward more than 10mil is a waste.

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
Their team sucked last year, and (luckily) winning it last year merely masked how weak the supporting cast was.

Re: Around the league: June 2014
No, I think 6mil is fair. Look, you always pay more for bigs and Patterson played a big role for the raps. He's their first big off their bench, rebounds well, shot the 3 at over 40% and can still play down low if needed. He's not even in his prime yet. I think that's a solid deal for them. That's w...

Re: Around the league: June 2014
Their numbers are identical and yes, Patterson is 6 years younger. A more apt comparison may be Markeiff Morris, who would look for a contract similar to Patterson.

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
Miami's trying to get Marvin Williams and Anthony Morrow to commit. Those two would help, and you can probably get them for cheap(er) but what they need are bigs. I would've called Chris Kaman and given him that two year deal he got from Portland. Jordan Hill should be on their list too. With regard...

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
Not for nothing, but that sounds like some rep's statement for a celebrity couple rumored to be on the outs.“No, no, no,” the source said. “Nothing to that. The team and Goran, they’re still committed to each other.”

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
LeBron could be going for 2 years at the max with Miami so long as they get a few players on the team. Look at it this way, he'll be 30 in December. As a businessman, he'd be unwise to take a 4 or 5 year deal for a few reasons: DWade is clearly on the decline, so another 4-5 years in Miami with Wade...

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
Agreed. There's a plan.
And look at it this way, last time our guy had a "plan" we were handing a contract over to Michael Beasley at 12:01am. And imagine the nightmare we'd be in if the Hornets don't match that offer sheet.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
LeBron is actually close with Bledsoe. He'd want to play with Bledsoe over anyone else, including Rondo. Melo would want to be paired with Rondo. Pacers fans genuinely think the Suns would do Dragic for Lance in a S&T. If Lance Blanks were still GM, I'd be genuinely worried. Hawes scares me. He'...

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
No way we take Lance. Especially at the 10-11 mil asking price he's supposedly pushing for. There's no one else I'd take back and truth be told, I'm not even really excited about Paul George. I think he's overrated to an extent but am intrigued by him and Bledsoe, and maybe that becomes a selling po...

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
Huh?
Ed Davis is an UFA. And he's not a guy you give 35mil to. He's a backup 4/5 you can prob get for 3-4mil. Jordan Hill would be an OK consolation, but I think a bit less of him overall.

Re: SUNS 2014: Free Agency
Patterson can be left. I feel like he's too similar to the Morris Brothers. We need some size, length and defense at the 4spot if we're not getting Love. Gimme Ed Davis.
