Re: NBA Draft 2020

I think he'll go #3. Yup, it'll be Three Wiseman. Holy cow, Wiseman is gonna be a player of biblical proportions. Jesus he's gonna be good. He'll come bearing gifts for any team that drafts him. It just makes frankincense to draft him! But I worry that the Orlando Magi will take him first.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2020

ESPN is reporting that Giannis will be named the MVP. Not a big surprise. I don't get why they wait so long to announce it, in this case after the relevant player has already been eliminated from the playoffs. Oops.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2020

I will only support it if Smart promises to do fashion shows every week and gets color contacts to match Oubre's dreamy eyes.

LOL, yeah, did I jinx them? I didn't know that the second round of the WNBA playoffs would also be single-elimination. Why do they do that? I barely got to watch the Mercury play. I was getting into it, too. Oh well.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2020

Miami takes a 2-0 lead. Real impressed with them. Jimmy Butler is a gamer, shows up in big moments. 3 huge defensive plays at the end. Dragic hit some big shots. It's really fun watching Dragic; he has still got it. Miami has a nice team. I'll be happy whichever of the two remaining East teams move...

Re: WNBA Playoffs and Phoenix Mercury

Speaking of which, sadly the Mercury lost their game tonight against the Minnesota Lynx by a single point. Since I believe the second round was also single elimination, this means the Mercury are out of the WNBA playoffs. Taurasi had 28 points but it wasn't enough. Here are some highlights: https://...

Re: WNBA Playoffs and Phoenix Mercury

I haven't watched much WNBA for years, but I have to say that the level of play is clearly higher than it was, say, a decade ago. I remember that back in the old days it felt like the players got a lot of open shots and that the defense didn't challenge shooters enough. That is very different now. T...

WNBA Playoffs and Phoenix Mercury

(I figured this is close enough to the NBA to go here rather than in the General area.) Have any of you guys been watching the Mercury? They had an amazing single-game elimination playoff match the other night against the Washington Mystics. The Mercury were down by 2 in the final seconds, and then ...

Re: Acts of domestic terrorism

I think our democracy can survive so long as he doesn't break the election itself. If he stations guards at polling places, gets ballots thrown out, makes electors turn faithless, etc., it could be unrecoverable. But if Biden clearly wins on Nov 3 and Trump pouts and tries not to leave office afterw...

Re: Acts of domestic terrorism

I think there is a high chance of nation-wide rioting and violence after the election, for one reason or another. It's frightening.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2020

That Nugs/Clips game was epic. It was so fun to watch the Nuggets put the Clippers away. They are so fun to watch; great young up-and-coming team. Jokic is a treat. I loved the over-the-shoulder pass to Murray in the last minute of the game. We've got a great last four teams left for the conference ...

Two major glaciers are breaking off: https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2020/09/14/glaciers-breaking-antarctica-pine-island-thwaites/ I think we are in for some very rough years in the future. I worry about the world we are leaving to our children. Our species may not have very many ...

Re: Acts of domestic terrorism

Didn’t know where to talk about this but have you seen the footage of the perp shooting two LA sheriffs in their car like sitting ducks? Nobody else is saying this but it looks to me like either a little person or a kid. They way he runs, it looks like a little person to me. Is it just me? Very sad...

Re: Suns News: Offseason

I don't think we should trade for CP3. I like him as a player, but Rubio has been pretty good for us, and I don't think CP3 is enough better to justify the cost. And I don't think Oubre should just be tossed out like that. CP3's contract is so ridiculous that I would really want to avoid taking it o...

Re: Around the League: Offseason

I actually like the idea of Westbrook/Knicks a lot. They haven't had a real mofo on their roster for a while; their fans would love him and how hard he plays every night. And he might actually help their team.

Optimistic interpretation: Maybe he figures Monty is doing so well here that he is unlikely to leave or be fired any time soon, so he figures he needs to go to another franchise to get a shot at head coaching.

Re: NBA Playoffs 2020

Man, it'd really be something to see Denver knock off the Clippers. I would love to see it. A rebuke of the super-rent-a-team that everybody anointed before the season. Then the Nugs would have to go on to upset the Lakers and go to the Finals. I would be over the moon. A Nuggets/Celtics Finals wou...
