I wouldn't say "toxic" for Arenas and that era. Dumb and undisciplined sure, but not toxic IMO.
They literally had guns drawn on each other in the locker room. How is that not toxic?
Because they didn't have poisonous gasses aimed at each other.

Late to the John Wall discussion, but here's my take:

Remember in 2014-2015 when Amare and Joe Johnson were the 2 highest paid players in the NBA? John Wall has the highest guaranteed salary in 2022-23. (Tied with Harden)

Are you confident that he will be a top 5 or 10 player? Do you think his immediate impact on our team gives us the momentum to win in spite of his contract? No. And No. He would be a new hight of awful "veteran leadership" at the highest price we've paid yet.

I'd much rather have Walker than Wall. Not that we have that choice.

If we're willing to trade for a crazy contract, Conley is my guy.

Agreed. It's less and for 2 less years I believe. Plus, he seems to be a better leader and floor general.

He's really exactly what we're missing. Jrue would be another example, but I don't see a scenario where he's available.

You're right, I can't see it happening as they are playing well.

I believe MIA will want to get rid of contracts once they realize they are bad. I think there is a three way trade where Dragic comes here, Hassan is sent to a win now, cap strangled team that lacks an interior presence (say WAS) and MIA gets back cap relief and some not-so- great draft stock and/or youth, providing Riley with a high draft pick in '19 via tanking and setting him up nicely for this upcoming FA class.

It's also a matter of time before CLE moves Hill and Kutcher (maybe Tristan and Love too).

I don't think you can deliver Hassan to a cap strangled team and then Miami gets back cap relief, since we clearly aren't providing any.

He has two years left after this season. So if it doesn't work out, you might even be able to do a buyout/stretch or something after next season. It wouldn't have to be long term.

I like that I'm roping people into the Conley idea because "it's not as bad as trading for John Wall."

How many years left for Conley? He's nice and I thought about him. Definitely preferred to Wall

I don't care about the money. If you can get him, get him! Can you imagine how much better we'd be?

I like Mike Conley a lot. I'd take him despite that huge contract. He's a great player and a great character guy. Plays the right way. Wouldn't have a huge ego and try to one-up Booker or Ayton or worry about who was "the man" or whatever.

Here’s an interesting article highlighting Ayton’s effectiveness operating from the pivot.

We have a 105 million dollar basketball team.

I doubt Sarver is going to be okay with taking on a guy who makes 30 million on his own.
