The 2021 Suns Offseason
Re: The 2021 Suns Offseason
Flex from Jersey reporting that the Suns might look to trade into the 2nd round if a guy they want is still there. I wonder if they're thinking of Bassey or Wieskamp, both of whom are likely to be around between 35-45.
Re: The 2021 Suns Offseason
That’s probably just flex saying something generic that has a decent chance of happening to give him more clout. If it doesn’t happen, he can just say the guy they wanted wasn’t there. I think he has a source, but it’s in CP3’s agency…not the suns FO

Everyone likes Jevon. He's just highly overpaid for his role on the Suns.
I don't know how things could have worked out much better for him. He signed a life changing contract, and he was traded to a contender that will likely have a role for him to win.

So was Carter.

Re: The 2021 Suns Offseason
Agree with all of that besides the "highly overpaid" part. He makes 3.5-4M. That is the bi-annual exception contract. Besides league minimum, it is hard to find a guy making less than 3M that isn't on a rookie deal. So probably a bit over-paid, but not much.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 4:56 pmEveryone likes Jevon. He's just highly overpaid for his role on the Suns.

Agree to disagree I guess. Cam Payne made $2M last year and had a huge on court role for the team. The salary difference means a lot more when a team is contending and paying the tax.Indy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 5:07 pmAgree with all of that besides the "highly overpaid" part. He makes 3.5-4M. Guys like Jevon Carter are almost always available for at least half of his salary.

I think Craig is a better 4 on our squad.Vladimir_Taltos wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:29 pmPF...just dropping some names..

The consensus has been for needs...backup SG...we got that in Shelmert...and for Saric...we had Torrey...we still felt the loss of Saric...so...buzz...the prevailing wisdom disagrees...soooo...then who?Drewsprocket wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:37 pmI think Craig is a better 4 on our squad.Vladimir_Taltos wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:29 pmPF...just dropping some names..

Love the deal for Shamet. Now just sign Nerlens Noel as a backup big and get another vet chasing a ring and call it a day. I've seen people saying Payne might get up to $10 million a year...no thanks for that price.
Re: The 2021 Suns Offseason
That is the same price we paid for Jae, and it felt like he was just as important to our team this year. I realize he dropped off a ton after the ankle injury in the playoffs, though.

Saric will probably never be a consistent player. He struggled with consistency both as a healthy player and now just having shit for luck.Vladimir_Taltos wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:51 pmThe consensus has been for needs...backup SG...we got that in Shelmert...and for Saric...we had Torrey...we still felt the loss of Saric...so...buzz...the prevailing wisdom disagrees...soooo...then who?Drewsprocket wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:37 pmI think Craig is a better 4 on our squad.Vladimir_Taltos wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:29 pmPF...just dropping some names..

Think Payne is worth about 7-8 million. But someone might be willing to give him the MLE, so we might have to match that to keep him.

Love the Shamet deal. Exactly what I hoped we would do with Carter.
I’m sure INF is having an aneurysm over trading the pick

Re: The 2021 Suns Offseason
Nothing but respect for Jevon
He put in the work and was obviously a team guy. Think his shot came along and he would be decent when he just let it fly but always was an issue if he was ask to do too much dribbling or create. That's probably why he wasn't used much in the Playoffs
Shamet is for sure better off the bounce and I think it was with the Clippers that he was the defacto point guard for a stretch and showed he was a decent facilitator. I view him as a SG though and a clear backup to Book, don't think this move has anything to do with CP15
Much like with Cam, Monty going back to a player he worked with as an assistant so let's hope he can provide that same comfort level for Shamet and his play benefits. I like his skillset but he has to be more consistent which is most young players so to be continued.

I think that's awesome that Iguodala is offering to work with Mikal in the offseason. And awesome that it sounds like he's going to take him up on the offer.

Same. With just a bit more work Bridges can become prime Iggy.wpmiller42 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 7:47 amI think that's awesome that Iguodala is offering to work with Mikal in the offseason. And awesome that it sounds like he's going to take him up on the offer.
