We can take GTJ or OG, Thad would have to go to a 3rd team

I thought the BYC on an Ayton max was $19M-ish.

The max it can count one way is the 19, but on the other side the min is the 30.6/1.25 or 24.48.

Jerry West should get back to playing Batman. What does he know!
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I don’t get what Brooklyn is thinking. They aren’t contenders without a bought in Kyrie and KD. They got swept in the 1st round last year with them. Are they just gonna hold onto KD out of pride? I get that it hurts to take back less for him than he’s worth, but he’s not actually worth that much to Brooklyn. He keeps them as a playoff team, but is that better than kickstarting a rebuild while he actually has value? Do they really want 4 1st round exits followed by probably 5-6 years out of the playoffs? That’s what they are looking at if they hold.

Trade him to us for whatever the best package they can get. Experiment around a Simmons centric team to see if he can be saved or at least his value can be saved. Get some assets for Kyrie from LAL.

Say they trade Kyrie for Westbrook and 2 1sts and then trade KD/Mills to us for a CamJ/Turner(Ayton going to Indy)/Saric/Craig package with 5 picks.

Westbrook/Curry/CamJ/Simmons/Turner isn’t even that bad of a team. You could push for a playoff spot still. That’s a lot of shooting around the non-shooting ball handling duo. Maybe you don’t even bother keeping Westbrook, but now you also have 7 extra 1sts you can use to trade for more pieces or take shots in the draft. That just seems like a better path to me than holding onto an aging KD and watching your team slowly turn to a dumpster fire.

If Brooklyn makes it known they aren’t trading KD to us for our current offer and plans to start the season with KD, what do you do as the suns? I get the feeling there’s probably not an Ayton trade we like. I think we almost have to just sign Ayton and hope to make a KD trade mid season. I don’t love that path though knowing Ayton probably doesn’t want to be here.

Honestly, I think we just run it back with a re-signed Ayton and see how things go. Sure, Ayton might be upset, but let him know that if he just plays hard and keeps his value up, we'll try to accommodate a trade by the deadline. Or maybe this is a wake-up call and everyone grows from this and we're in great shape. I don't think the relationship is beyond repair. Work the buyout market hard and hope that the Nets implode so badly they're forced to take a trade centered on a bunch of draft picks and/or Ayton.

I wonder if we could trade Jae Crowder for another 1st to give Brooklyn?

I wouldn’t think so, but Brooklyn gave up a 1st for Royce O’Neale and crowder is better than him

It was right in the tweet:
Like I said, KD will be a Net or Sun—ignore everything else.
Before, it was just a matter of time and he would be a Sun. Now he's allowing for the possibility of him staying on the Nets.

But on his Pod he also elaborated and agreed that if KD stayed it would still be just a matter of time, as KD would be unhappy and have DNPs and a lot of “rehabbing.”

I listened to the Pod, Flex wasn’t wavering at all. Says he still thinks 99% chance KD is on the Suns to start the season. He says he goes back and forth if Mikal will be gone tho.

Even if another team trades for KD, it doesn't mean he's not coming to the Suns.

He can just demand a trade during the season from his new team to Phoenix. :P
