While averaging only 30.7 mpg in those seasons. There's no way his minutes are that low this season.

He’s had 3 seasons at 2.5 or lower
True but in fairness I’d say base it off his most recent failure…. Like 3.0 attempts is something to brag about. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I can’t wait to hear the excuses when his averages are all the same next year if not worse

How about this? If that happens, I will admit I was wrong about Deandre Ayton.

I don't think you're going out on a limb. Pretty safe bet his stats will improve this season. I think it's pretty obvious to most. Of course it will be in losing efforts for the most part.

It's too bad basketball is more than just stats. *shrugs*

That's the thing, it was never about his stats. Will he be impactful and make a difference in the game? If he's getting more points because of more shot attempts but it's the same soft 4ft baby hook or jab step jumper from 14ft then what's the point?

His stats won’t go up. Mayyyyybe slight uptick in PPG, though I’m doubtful of that too.

If you're right, then that will mean I was wrong about him being able to reach another level.

But even if that's the case, I still would have kept him instead of making the team worse.

This will be really funny when he averages 18/11 on worse shooting splits and the same minutes and we win the championship

You really should make it a gentleman's avatar shaming bet. Put your "money" where your mouths are instead of just bickering ;)

Haha, we bet on whether Ayton would lead the Blazers in scoring

Honestly, it would only be all the more disappointing if Ayton’s stats somehow didn’t improve in Portland. He’ll play a more refined role and will have more opportunities to display his abilities, but it almost surely will not translate into wins. I wish him all the best (except when he plays against us, of course :P ), but I like the pieces we have and feel confident heading into the season with this squad.

I would love to be proven wrong on that one for sure!

I myself am severely disappointed that even with an actual trade this thread is still over 20 pages short of our goal. Hoping a couple of DA monster games against us in the preseason will light a fire under our collective arses.

Maybe the thread will hit 200 pages if we pivot to talking about less controversial topics than Ayton.

So, how about those Democrats and Republicans? And what religion is the right one? The one I believe in, am I right?
