Ideally, Gerald Green would be our go-to guy for a last second shot, because he's hyper-athletic, can create his own shot, can hit from any range, and can elevate over his defender. Unfortunately, the pressure gets to him, and he's more likely to bobble the ball out of bounds than get the shot off.

Nothing sucks the energy out of this time like trying to milk a lead. That's when the guards start pounding the ball, running down the clock and the team takes desperation drives or perimeter jumpers.

He did okay with us last year. That last shot against Minnesota comes to mind.Xylus wrote:Ideally, Gerald Green would be our go-to guy for a last second shot, because he's hyper-athletic, can create his own shot, can hit from any range, and can elevate over his defender. Green only played 3 minutes tonight because he doesn't listen and can't make a simple entry pass.
Re: Game Day: Grizzlies (35-12) @ Suns (28-21), Mon 2/2/15
Yeah, I doubt he'll be with us next year.
Re: Game Day: Grizzlies (35-12) @ Suns (28-21), Mon 2/2/15
I think he has some great skills we need, but I think you are right.
Re: Game Day: Grizzlies (35-12) @ Suns (28-21), Mon 2/2/15
He'll be going nuts for some other team that needs and values him. (To wit, can you imagine Gerald Green on Memphis? He'd go nuts on that team.)

Not so sure he would see court time with his defense.Mori Chu wrote:He'll be going nuts for some other team that needs and values him. (To wit, can you imagine Gerald Green on Memphis? He'd go nuts on that team.)

Frightening how little basketball IQ was displayed from our side of things tonight.

Do every one of these Suns-Griz games have to end in the most painful way possible. Offensive rebound and 3 point play given up when up by two? Excruciating.
And I think Hornacek is quite good at drawing up ATO plays. Having IT inbound over Gasol was not his finest moment.

i wish green was there to potentially take the last second shot.Xylus wrote:Ideally, Gerald Green would be our go-to guy for a last second shot, because he's hyper-athletic, can create his own shot, can hit from any range, and can elevate over his defender. but in the past, this team was accused of not knowing time management when they had a lead. The Bobster wrote:Nothing sucks the energy out of this time like trying to milk a lead. Ridiculously soft ending after a ferocious run. This team has some growing up to do.Mori Chu wrote:We are being careless with the ball and letting Memphis stay in it. Just 1:12 to freedom...

There's a big difference between prudent time management and clueless dithering ...
