Worst Suns coach since Watson
Re: Suns Fire Frank Vogel
I've never been a fan of letting your players dictate your coaching hire. You hire the best coach for your franchise, those player won't be around forever.
Re: Suns Fire Frank Vogel
You lost me at Malika Andrews.
Re: Suns Fire Frank Vogel
Mainly Stevens as a comp. Hurley seems to have a modern approach to his offense but is also someone who looks like he’d hold players accountable. I mean, it’s all a coin flip.

People say time goes by faster as we age, but this has to be new record for next week arriving so quickly.

Seems appropriate to restore this here, the top 11 coaching candidates...the last one not being viable...

Chauncey Billups wasn't even able to coach DeAndre Ayton to a title!JeremyG wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 3:45 pmIt’s the same exact situation as last summer. Do we hire Budenholzer (the coach with championship experience) or Billups (the coach that Durant and Booker want)?
We saw how not hiring the players’ choice went this last season. But will giving them what they want result in success?

I think it's less due to players dictating coaching hires and more about there being a much larger pool of qualified candidates.
I think there were a lot more incompetent coaches in the past.

He’s never coached anyone with that name.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 4:45 pmChauncey Billups wasn't even able to coach DeAndre Ayton to a title!JeremyG wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 3:45 pmIt’s the same exact situation as last summer. I remember that and how he seemed so lackadaisical and like he didn’t even care as they fell to 0-2 in the series, and everyone called him the worst coach in Finals history.
But perhaps the rest of the series proved us all wrong. He was better than Monty at least.
He does seem a little too laid back like Vogel, though.
Billups is more of the Chris Paul type.

Re: Suns Fire Frank Vogel
True, but the fact that it looks more and more like KD and Booker sabotaged the season due to a hire they didn’t like makes me think we either need to change the roster or hire the coach they want.

OR.. Hear me out here, he had the best player in the series who dominated his opponent. I don't think coaching had a whole lot of an impact on how that series turned out.JeremyG wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 6:06 pmI remember that and how he seemed so lackadaisical and like he didn’t even care as they fell to 0-2 in the series, and everyone called him the worst coach in Finals history.

Both of those guys are far more of a PG than anyone on the Suns roster. But sure Brendan, spin away...

A lot of the folks here wanted Bud when we got Monty. They ended up playing each other in the Finals. Monty went into the Buck's locker room. It's only fair that Bud comes into ours. Plus, he's an Arizona guy from Holbrook.JeremyG wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 3:45 pmIt’s the same exact situation as last summer. I disagree. There was a game won by Middleton and Jrue, who was torching us. Monty should have tried something to disrupt this hot hand, putting Jevon carter to bother him or something.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 6:18 pmOR.. But I don't think it was something planned by Budenholzer either.
