I think most coach firings nowadays probably come down to the players…teams have to have total buy in from players for success…if some players are tuning out the coach or just don’t get along with them, it’s not gonna work. Players just win out now over coaches. Previous eras you’d probably just trade the player, but not many coaches get that treatment anymore. Bickerstaff is probably a pretty good coach, but when you have multiple players leaking to the media that they aren’t happy, it means the coach probably lost them. Looks like Cleveland will probably try to keep the team intact

Probably true, but I wish teams would support their coaches more. Teams like the Spurs and Heat have sustained success because they foster a system and culture that everyone in the organization must adhere to, including the coaches and players. Now maybe you need the right coach for that to work. I certainly wouldn't have tried it with Earl Watson. I do think Monty could have been that kind of coach, though.

Ya I think it’s just hard to do…even still, the Spurs are 5 years in a row out of the playoffs and 7 years removed from their last playoff series win.

Langdon hired in Detroit after working with the Nets and Pelicans. Other reports say the Pistons are open to firing Monty and eating the $60mil left on his deal

We should've just traded Vogel for Monty.

No need to revisit that mess.

Next step in Monty's evolution is to learn how to deal with difficult players.

He needs a break and clearly didn't want to take that Pistons job.

How do you say no to being the highest paid coach at the time, but yes, he probably should go be an assistant under Pop again and take that over when it's time.

I've gotten a lot of entertainment out of this today.

Ignacio Garcia of MARCA is off of his rocker.

Yeah, I was wondering what that name was about. Didn't see any reference to it in the linked content.

You’d have to go through each award…he’s just a voter. He put Sabonis on his MVP and DPOY ballot…the DPOY vote is insane. He must be obsessed with rebounds.

He also had Jose Alvarado and Jamie Jaquez on his 6MOY ballot. The league should take away MACRA's vote, but they probably won't.
