Suns News: Week of 4/14-4/20

Post by carey »

Final Suns news thread of the 2013-2014 season.

Week in Review.

April 9th @ New Orleans W 94-88!
April 11th vs. San Antonio L 112-104
April 12th vs. Dallas L 101-98

This Week.

April 14th vs. Memphis 10:00 EST
April 16th @ Sacramento 10:30 EST

Things are looking bleak for our guys. The Lakers didn't do us any favors losing to Memphis by 12 last night. The only way for us to get into the playoffs is to beat Memphis AND Sacramento, and for Memphis to also lose to Dallas on Sunday. If any one of those 3 things fails to happen then we're out and staring at pick 14 in June.
Go Suns!

Reading an interview with Windhorst about the Cavs he said this about the playoffs which I think perfectly summarizes the anti-tanking among us: " But, if they’re able to get in, even if they get blasted out, I think it’s huge for them. Remember the year when the Cavs played the Bulls and it was a 1-8 matchup. The Cavs beat them 4-1, but it was a competitive 4-1. The Bulls win 60 games the next year. The next year after that, the Pacers get in as the eighth seed, they lose 4-1, they go six and seven games against the Heat the two years after that. Just getting in is so important for their development."

The good thing or the bright side of it, is that they have essentially been in the playoffs type atmosphere for the last two weeks, trying to get in. That should help them, and embolden them for the offseason. Or,... it's just wishful thinking.

‏@BrightSideSun: Bledsoe post game: "Now everybody got a little experience going into next year. Next year we got to lock in even more."

I'll try not to read to much into that.

Why not? He finally thinks of himself as a Sun now.

Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose of Grantland are currently doing a series of playoff preview videos. They did a whole video on the surprising season the Suns have had (under the assumption that we'd make the playoffs; oh well). Still a nice watch:

Green will start with the rest of the regular starters, with Dragic being the exception, but the Suns also plan to give their young players more minutes Wednesday with the team no longer in the playoff hunt.

No reason aside from fouls that Len and Goodwin shouldnt both get 30 minutes.

The Brain trust is meeting with the media today at 11am, Hornecek,McD,Babby. I'm at work so if anyone watches if they can just sum it up I'd appreciate it.

McD just said it is unlikely they bring in 3 rookies next year. He talked about packaging them for a veteran, packaging them to move up, trade the picks for future picks, or drafting a Euro or 2.

well, to be honest he just enumerated the options, but didn't let anything transpire about his plans or preferences, other than it's indeed unlikely that three rookies make the roster. Also it was clear that they see Len and Archie far away, but Hornacek praised their effort and even said that they are the two hardest working players on the roster. And that Archie's shot is on its way, but first he needed to fix that shake before the release.

McD looks quite uncomfortable speaking to the media. He looks like a nerd who just wants to go back to his synergy and advanced stats.

Damnit...

@paulcoro: Washington lost the No. 17-18 draft tiebreaker with Brooklyn, meaning the #Suns are picking 14th, 18th and 27th in June.

Hmm, disagree. I think he's fairly comfortable considering he has a stuttering problem. That might make anyone a littler nervous considering what he says is broadcast to millions of people.
