NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread
Re: NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread
Toronto and Cleveland all tied up, 2-2. Can't say I expected that. I still think the Raptors lose the series, but the fact that they won 2 shocked me.
Re: NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread
I hope Len is watching Biyombo in these playoffs. Size and skill are nice, but a hustling big guy can change a playoff series just by deciding to get all of the rebounds.

Re: NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread
I haven't checked the stats carefully, but it seems to me that Draymond Green has been really bad in this series (and somewhat in this year's playoffs as a whole). He doesn't seem to be hitting outside shots or 3s much at all, and especially in this OKC series he doesn't seem big enough to guard his man and rebound effectively. OKC as a whole just looks so big and strong and athletic. Westbrook has been a dominant force and OKC haven't seemed to be able to contain him.
What are y'all's takes about why OKC is stomping the Warriors so badly?

Klay Thompson is single-handedly bringing Warriors back. But still a 10 point game.

-I reckon Curry's playing hurt. He hasn't been his usual dominant self in this seriesMarty [Mori Chu] wrote:What are y'all's takes about why OKC is stomping the Warriors so badly?
-the Thunder's length is really disrupting the Warriors' passing game
-Westbrook and Durant are in the top 5-6 players in the league and are playing out of their minds. They're clearly channelling that "point to prove, no-one rates us" vibe in a good way (and also including their teammates just enough)

Don't see the Warriors coming back from 3-1. That 73 win season don't mean shit now.

OKC has won 7 of the last 9 against Golden State and San Antonio.

I just really, really dislike the Thunder. I hate how the Thunder publicists have insulated Westbrook & Durant from criticism in Oklahoma. Anyone curious about it should do a bit of research. Those two are the very definition of Prima Donnas. It would give me great joy to see the Warriors regain their mojo and win the next 3.
Go Suns!

I think you summed it up pretty well. Bigger, stronger, faster, and Westbrook is having his way with whomever guards him.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:I haven't checked the stats carefully, but it seems to me that Draymond Green has been really bad in this series (and somewhat in this year's playoffs as a whole). I don't like the Warriors or the Thunder. They both can fuck off.

I agree. I would have preferred the Spurs.Wally_West wrote:I don't like the Warriors or the Thunder. They both can fuck off.

It appears that the Thunder are going to beat the two teams with the best records in the league. I expect them to win the finals as well.

Re: NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread
For the most part, when the suns are not involved I just root for good stories. 73 wins/greatest team ever was a great story. However, what the thunder are doing makes an incredible story. Beating the spurs and warriors who combined for 140 regular season wins is pretty epic. And the way they are doing it is incredibly impressive. It's been fun to watch and I think a thunder-warriors rivalry is better for the league than a warriors dynasty.
Re: NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread
It was weird. I turned on the TV and it was already on TNT and I saw Ernie, Kenny, Shaq, and Charles sitting there and I thought for sure I heard them say the series was tied up 2-2. I quickly changed the channel as I was going to watch The Preacher with my son before watching the game. I thought they had spoiled it for me. When I finally watched the game, I kept waiting for this miraculous comeback. Needless to say, it never happened.

Re: NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread
Well, when I think of being down 3-1 and coming back, I think Suns/Lakers. It's possible but I can't see it happening the way OKC has been so dominant. But we'll see. I'm pretty sure GSW will win game 5.

Re: NBA Western/Eastern Conference Finals Thread
It'd be funny if Toronto shocked Cleveland and then won the finals against OKC, who did the heavy lifting in the west and then burned-out or underestimated the Raptors fantasy of course, but these playoffs are surprising.
