I forget who said it (either here on on twitter) but it didn't look like he was going to get that block because he didn't really gather himself for a big move/jump. Just kind of effortlessly slid over and hopped up. It was really great to see. Let's see if he can keep it going tomorrow.
It was awesome at the end of the game how happy Holmes was for Ayton. He hugged him and wouldn't let him go.
Richaun’s mom says lots of nice things about Ayton on Twitter. I think Richaun and Ayton must be good friends.

I noticed the Ayton and Holmes post game dynamic after that win as well. Stuff like that can really mean a lot for a struggling young team.

Melton/Okobo had 1 assist in 42 minutes.

We need a point guard.

Booker is the point guard

I think a lot of it is mindset. Warren is a pretty good transistion scorer. Harder to do that when you’re focusing on securing the rebound. Although warren has actually improved this year as a defensive rebounder. His offensive rebounding has dropped significantly.
His offensive rebounding has dropped significantly because there is this huge Bahamian kid in the way grabbing all of them.
I wish that were the case. Ayton is doing wonderful on the boards, but...

Ayton is grabbing 10.6% of the offensive rebounds while he is on the court. Holmes is grabbing 12.2 while he is there. Last year, Alex grabbed 13.2 ,and Tyson had 12.2.

It is more about TJ being further out than last year.
Ya, Ayton only recently started crashing the offensive glass. It’s more likely a combination of him spending more time at the 3 point line and perhaps coaching. Igor May prefer warren to not crash the glass and get back on D

It was awesome to see that between the two. There have been a few games lately where I was hoping to see Holmes in there to close it out. But Ayton showed us what he is capable of, and instead of pouting about his crunch-time minutes going down, Holmes was encouraging of his young teammate. I loved it.

I wouldn't confuse Warren having a great offensive year with Warren being a good power forward. Playing him at the 4 sacrifices too much rebounding and defense. It's the best that can be done with this roster, but we should be looking at making a change in the offseason.

Agreed. PF should be a priority to fill.

To me, it's PG by a mile. I like Melton, but guard play is so important these days. And as someone else pointed out, there are barely any more traditional PFs these days. You can get away with TJ/Bridges/Oubre at the 4.

I don't we need a traditional 4, I just prefer to start someone at the 4 that will play defense and/or rebound.

PJ Tucker is a classic example. He is by no means a traditional 4, but he plays D, is a solid rebounder, and and brings toughness on the interior. That's huge for making Houston's small lineup effective.

People are jumping to conclusions when someone isn't content with Warren at the 4 that it must mean the person wants Anthony Mason or Horace Grant manning the 4 spot.

That's why I said "a priority" not "the priority". I agree that PG is at least equal.

I think they need a player like that on the roster, but not necessarily in the starting lineup. I really wished it would've been Dragan.

Ya we really need someone who can help Ayton/Holmes defend the rim or grab a rebound when they leave to go help away from the basket.

I've said it before, Draymond could be a really nice fit here. Obviously presents some issues, too.

Not the current Draymond. He's totally lost his mojo.

We’re just the organization to get him back on track.

Yaw , that was me as I posted it in the News Thread but since the discussion is still going on here. I find the topic interesting so look forward to more responses but my thing is yes that rebounding defensive big would be good but how much would we invest in such a player. I think it's a safe bet that even with couple additions that next season we would be closing games with Ayton, Book, TJ, Mikal and whoever which I figure would be a G/F so that potential PF would be playing what 20mins ?
So just wondering what you guys are looking for, to actually spend at the position or we hoping for another value pickup like Richaun
