Does anyone think that Lillard is a better comp for Booker than Klay at this point? Booker is not as much of a no conscience gunner, but he has been showcasing similar range lately. Also same type of turnstile on D.

I don't like either comp. Booker's got better handles and can be a distributor that Klay isn't. Klay is a pure shooter. Booker has range like Lillard, but Lillard can be a pure scorer when he's on. Not sure Booker can get unconscious like that, not yet at least. Dame's just got "it" when he's hot. I still like the Brandon Roy comparisons for Book.

Players should get an extra personal foul if the game goes to OT.

A simple way to fix the foul-out problem would be that for every foul beyond 6, it's treated almost like a flagrant foul, where the opposing team gets 2 shots and the ball. That's a stiff penalty for a guy committing fouls beyond 6, but at least he can stay on the floor if the coach wants him to. If some player got a ridiculous amount of fouls like 10 or 20 or whatever, they could still have a foul-out threshold way up there somewhere, or could convert fouls into actual flagrants beyond that threshold, so that he'd get tossed at some point.

The klay comp isn't very accurate at all. I guess they are similar sized and can shoot. Both can be very streaky. Klay is quite a bit better overall as a shooter though. College booker looked a little like klay, but that changed in the NBA.

I think booker, at least statistically, projects to be similar to Derozan with 3 point range. Both are great scorers with limited peripheral stats. I still have hope that booker develops as a play maker.

I don't think the current foul out situation needs fixing. You commit over a certain number of fouls, you are penalized. What's wrong with that?

This Lakers/Wolves game, wow. Tied up with 2:30 left. Thibs and the Wolves going all out trying to win. Lakers stumbling along and still tied. C'mon, Lakers, you can win this!

Wow. I looked at the score on reddit and the Lakers were down 2 with 8 seconds to go and figured we were screwed.

Checked ESPN and they won. Amazing.

I actually felt good for Russell. He lost his grandmother earlier in the day.

I didn't realize how epic the meltdown actually was. The Cavs were up 26 entering the fourth quarter. I think I heard that the Hawks are one of only three teams that have come back from 25+ entering the fourth quarter.

Atlanta had 67 points after 3 quarters and finished with 126!?! 59 points in the 4th + OT is impressive

I still think the Cavs will kick it into another gear for the playoffs. But this is not a good end to the season for them, and that's putting it mildly.

I like how the ABA did it where the player could stay in the game but each subsequent foul came with a technical foul. There was still a risk for leaving him in the game and a penalty if he commits a seventh foul.

Considering a bad call or two from a ref can take your best player out of the game, I agree that it would be better this way. Especially since those types of calls are not review-able.

EDC wrote:I still think fouling out shouldn't be a thing. It is stupid that fans pay big money to watch some players that end up being sidelined by early calls that could go either way. It just hurts the brand and doesn't give the fans what they want to see.

Refs are not perfect and a mistake at the wrong time has too big of an impact. Minimizing it is important. We would still have end of the game calls that have big impact but at least the best players aren't side lined for most of the game because of a call.

This would also lessen the effect of superstar calls. Refs let the stars get away with things because they are worried about fouling them out of a game.

The NBA just needs to find another way of punishing teams for fouling too much. They could easily come up with something else.
There would be so many more fouls. FT% would be so much more important. No thanks.

I dunno about that. You could easily scale the penalty to make it really costly to the other team. You could even remove free throws from the penalty. Non shooting foul over say 5 would give the other team 1 point and the ball. Non shooting foul over 6 is 2 points for the other team and the ball.

You could definitely curb the fouling by increasing the penalty.

The whole point of a system like this is to reduce the impact of bad calls on the out come of the game. The refs aren't perfect. I also feel that it would free them up to not have to worry about who has fouled who and just call the game as they see it.
