Been watching some Lonnie Walker and while I haven't been a huge fan, I think I'm changing my tune. He's a great athlete, will be able to defend both backcourt positions and can really shoot. He's got some poor shot selection and he's much better in catch and shoot situations right now, but he's got a nice handle. I think he'll learn to shoot off the dribble in time. He's not a PG though, so he becomes more valuable if Doncic is the pick at 1. I think Philly takes a long look at him, he'd be great with Simmons.
RealManager mock draft by users had PHX taking him at #16. My fear is that he ends up being Shannon Brown.
Definitely possible...I think Lonnie is further along than Shannon was as a freshman, but there are some similarities.

I would think that Doncic would be the primary facilitator in that group.
He would be. And while Booker can play off the ball right now, Jackson has shown that he needs the ball to score. What does he do when Doncic has the ball? Stand in the corner? No one would pay attention to him.
I'm pretty sure that every player needs the ball to score. :D
I bet Rubio doesn't...

(yeah i know, that's why Rubio's don't come here)
Are you talking about on or off the court?
Yes.

I haven't really thought about how bad the Grizzlies have been at drafting. Not a lot of top picks but woof.
Go Suns!

3 prospects I'm lower on than the recent consensus: Kevin Knox, Colin Sexton, Zhaire Smith.

Thanks for this link; that was an interesting set of points. Super curious to see what the teams in the 2-4 range (SAC, ATL, MEM) do.

I am afraid I might overvalue Doncic because I believe he is some kind of a basketball Jesus. Might even cry a little bit if we do not end up drafting him somehow. Also, if it happens, I am kinda hoping he gets to a real crappy team so that he might get sick of their shit show and we can get him via trade or something ... #comeHomeLuka

So I am basically hoping that the Kings or Hawks pick him. Because if he goes to the Mavs, Mark Cuban is not letting him go. He is going to make him his next European Wonderboy and Memphis might just keep him or give him to a team with good management / culture ... #fingersCrossed

Honestly this whole thing is a crapshoot. Nobody actually knows who will be the best player out of Ayton, Doncic, Bagley, Bamba, JJJ, Porter Jr, Young and company. The top 8 of this draft is absolutely stacked and I continue to think that Ayton, Doncic and Bagley are a tier above the rest but that's just my amateur opinion. The best player may (unlikely) even end up being somebody outside of those mentioned. They all are dripping with potential. I'm just happy the Suns get their pick of the group. I can tell you if Ayton disappoints this coming year and >50% of those players meet their expectations, McD should not last another offseason.

As the old saying goes, nobody ever gets fired for buying IBM, or drafting DeAndre Ayton.

Yupp.

I am planning to have a nap on Thursday before the event so that I can watch it live but for me the suspense is not so much about who we pick with our first but more on the potential trades and our other picks. Still very happy overall and looking very forward to our upcoming season. Good stuff.

Go Suns!

Listened to Casey Jacobsen on AZ Sports radio this morning and he gave what would be a very hot take here. He said it's "laughable" that Doncic is being considered for a top 3 pick. He says he knows overseas basketball and that Doncic is a clear lower tier to Ayton/Bagley/JJJ/Bamba.

I like Casey, but I was disappointed that the Suns picked him(gave him a guarantee) over T. Prince.

That is a laughable take.

Would Casey have some inside info that he's trying to get fans onboard with one of those guys so we're not upset that we pass on Doncic?

Also regarding Bamba...I can't really blame him/his agent. They have Gasol so why would he want to get drafted there?
