Would you guys move Warren for Reggie Jackson?

I’ve never been a huge Jackson fan, but his 3pt shot has improved, he was at 37% last year on a career high number of attempts. His turnovers are pretty low, though Detroit taking the ball out of his hands more, probably has something to do with that. So it’d be nice to have a point forward. *cough* Simmons *cough*

He’d expire after next season, so he’d be low risk if he doesn’t work out.

My new plan assuming we don’t land 1:

1. Trade our pick, Josh Jackson, and Okobo to Philly for Simmons.
2. Renounce everyone but Oubre.
3. Trade Warren for Reggie Jackson
4. Sign Dewayne Dedmon and Seth Curry

Curry/Booker/Bridges/Simmons/Ayton
Jackson/Johnson/Oubre/Dedmon

You’d have 1 elite shooter(Curry)
Another near elite shooter(Booker)
3 good shooters(Jackson, Bridges, Dedmon)
2 average shooters(Oubre, Johnson)
And 1 developing shooter(Ayton)

No bad shooters around Simmons.
I can't see them taking #3-#7 with a big bust (Jackson) and Okobo for Simmons. It doesn't help them enough.

If you can get Simmons for people not named Ayton, Booker, and Bridges, you do it. He can play point forward. He is already bigger and a better rebounder than Philly's PF, and would be a huge upgrade for us at that spot. You then sign a veteran 3-D guy at point. It would require Ayton to become an outside shooter, though. Or at least a threat in the 33-35% range.
I'd give up Bridges. The only guys or assets I wouldn't put in such a deal would be Booker, Ayton, or if we get the #1 pick this year (Zion).
I understand what you are saying, but we need defenders badly. I don't want to give up our best one.

Ya I don’t think they would either..would have to be number 2 at a minimum.

I would of course prefer to keep Bridges. But you have to give up something to get a great player back. You can't just give them your garbage like Josh Jackson and expect them to do a dumb trade like that. Even a high 1st-rounder isn't enough; the ceiling for most of these rookies is way lower than what Ben Simmons already is now. They'd get tarred and feathered for making a trade like that.

I like some of your ideas in this post, but I really dislike the idea of acquiring Reggie Jackson. Dude is a ballhog and he shot 42.1% this past season. Yes his threes are better, but the guy has a horrible overall FG%. Feels like another Brandon Knight acquisition or something, a guard who doesn't do what we need.

Ya that’s fair, I wouldn’t be thrilled with Reggie Jackson, but he’s had some positive developments recently. He’s not been as big of a ball hog in recent years, his 3pt shot has trended up, turnovers trending down, shooting less long 2’s and more 3’s.

We’re gonna have to take a flawed player back for Warren. Jackson has some talent and is also an expiring contract...so low risk. Could move him again at trade deadline if it doesn’t work out. Or just let him expire.

Also, I would only be in favor of this move if we brought in another distributor. I wouldn’t want him to be the one pg we bring in.

This is way off topic, but I don't know where else to put it.

https://www.cosport.com, the official US ticket distributor for the Olympics, just started taking ticket requests for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. I requested tickets for both Men's basketball semi-final games and the gold medal game among other events. I'm working with some friends over here to organize accommodations for a decent sized group, so feel free to send me a message if you're interested in going.

I didn't take him to a sports medicine specialist but I did take him to an orthopedic doctor today. He has a small bone chip on his elbow. Not big enough to require a cast but he can't do anything for a month. Basically will be lost for the rest of the season. Could make it back for the playoffs if totally cleared in time but I probably won't risk it and just bring him back slowly.

In the mean time, could you get him to start learning to throw with the other arm? I know it's a ton of work and probably not worth it, but keeps him active and not worrying about the injury. It also helps the left brain/right brain connectivity.

I played ball with Ed Bane's son Jaime in hs. He was right handed, but his dad made him throw left handed.

He is not even supposed to bend his elbow. Can't even hit. Image

This is very encouraging. There was a very noticeable change in Victor after doing it.

Boston may be happy if he does walk.

This.. He's probably close to a top 5 player
No way. I think there are easily 10 players better than him.

DLo is just not very good. I know he made an all-star team, but did you see him play in the playoffs? He was bad. He took over 20 shots a game and couldn't make 36% of them. Not from 3--from everywhere. And how does your lead guard have an assist to TO ratio hover around 1?
Well I don't think you can just go by his first playoff performance. But in general, I agree with the hesitation to invest a large portion of the salary cap in him. He is a low percentage, high turnover, high volume scoring guard. That doesn't really appeal to me. I don't think that is the kind of player you put next to Booker.

A Twitter discussion I saw on my timeline had a bunch of people thinking he should get around $10M/year. I'm sure someone will pay him that, but I also think it's a terrible idea.

$10m/year isn't much. I don't think that would be an awful deal for him in today's CBA. But I don't know if he is a starting PG.
Mori is right. $10 mil/yr is basically the MLE exception now.

I'm not as down on Rozier as most, but I think I'd rather go hard after Brogdon for that kind of money (assuming we don't get Morant). McConnell would also be a good fill-in till we find a long-term solution.
We're not getting Brogdon for $10 mil/yr. I think it is going to take At least $16 mil/yr to get him away from Milwaukee.

The problem with Simmons is, what can you do with him when he doesn't have the ball in his hands? If Booker is doing his Harden thing and both Ayton and Simmons are on the floor, at least one of them needs to stretch to the corner.
I have a similar concern with that trio. Booker and Simmons would be fine together, but Ayton and Simmons would be a difficult pairing.

I think Sauce is underrating how good Simmons is, but he is right to be nervous about maxing out Simmons. There would still be too many holes with the team with those three as our Big 3, and there wouldn't be enough salary cap maneuverability to address those holes. If the Suns didn't have Ayton, Simmons would make more sense.
