Yes, I understand that, Shabazz post was in reference to Saric being healthy though. We don’t need a big man if he’s healthy is what I’m saying. Not one that would expect rotation minutes.
This season will be about depth. If Ayton gets 2 quick fouls, are you comfortable with heavy Jones minutes against Gobert, Jokic, Nurk, the Lakers, etc?

Has Stix played the 5 yet? I can't remember him playing any center in preseason as he seemed to be paired with DA and Jones whenever he played. I agree you don't really want to count on Smith either but I thought it was odd he wasn't give many minutes at center.

I didn’t mention their level of play at the 5. Just that they can. Jones is a 3rd string 5, and that’s what he’s looked like to me in preseason. Not someone I want to count on for rotation minutes, but he can cover a few minutes while we wait for Saric to get healthy. I don’t think Jalen is ready for minutes at the 5, he didn’t play there in preseason, but that’s going to be a position he plays.
Stix has looked really small out there compared to the centers we’ve seen.
I like Saric, but he’s not ideal against the bigger centers in the league.
I agree about Stix...he needs to put on some size if he’s going to play the 5 regularly. And Saric actually held up well defending the post in the bubble. He’s actually better defending post guys than perimeter guys. Of course rebounding becomes a problem. Even still, Ayton should cover most of the minutes against the starting 5’s.
I don’t think Ayton is going to miss 20+ games. And if he does, there really isn’t any free agents I feel Can make much more of a difference than Jones/Saric. I actually think Jones played fine in preseason. He just needs to set screens and roll to the rim. He can do that. His defense isn’t anything special, but it was fine.
