Getting off my Beal rant, I watched more highlights from last night. The ball was definitely being whipped around and shared a lot more. The offense looked really good. Beak's return and presence had so much to do with that. He seemed to always be one of the players involved in those passes and the sharing. The defense didn't really know what to do, always on their toes. Book or KD didn't have to do the primary the whole time, easy to key in on.

You should go by game score…not perfect, but it encapsulates all parts of the box score…you could say he needs to have a game score higher than the median Booker game so far this year which is about 22-23

The two games in that range for Booker were the game against the Knicks when he hit the game winner…28/11 on 10/25 shooting and the Minny game…31/4/5 on 12-22 shooting. Or you could just drop it to an even 20. Beal’s best game by game score this year is 16 vs the Lakers when he had 24/4/2 on 9/17 shooting.
Yeah, no. 28 points or better. This is a bit much.
If I can make a suggestion, bkref’s GmSc is a good catch-all for statistical performance in a game. How about 20 as the threshold for greatness? By that metric, KD has been great 20 times in 27 games this season, and Book is 13 for 22. Beal is 0 for 7, with his best game being a 16.7. He was 16 for 50 last season with WAS. In his last All-Star season (2020-21), he was 35 for 60.

THICK DICK turned the season around for us
That's nice of you to say. I've been happy to contribute as much as I can. I think the players helped too, though!

GmSc - Game Score; the formula is PTS + 0.4 * FG - 0.7 * FGA - 0.4*(FTA - FT) + 0.7 * ORB + 0.3 * DRB + STL + 0.7 * AST + 0.7 * BLK - 0.4 * PF - TOV. Game Score was created by John Hollinger to give a rough measure of a player's productivity for a single game. The scale is similar to that of points scored, (40 is an outstanding performance, 10 is an average performance, etc.).

If 40 is outstanding and 10 is average, wouldn't 20 be a good game? Should we be aiming for a GmSc of 22 to 24 then as I've been talking about a great game?

Nope. Rule of averages. I've had a raging needle dick for the past month or so. Totally offsets your anaconda. It's ALL about the Bosnian Meat.

Yeah, I was taking a nice round number, but you might want to go with 22 or 24. Book and KD have both hit 20 in the majority of their games, as did Beal the last time he was an All-Star, so it’s a bit below median for players of that caliber. If you want to define a great game as All-Star caliber, you might want to go with a number closer to median/average for players like that.

Bkref’s game logs are sortable by GmSc, so you can easily convert between GmSc threshold and percentile. Figure out what percentile for an All-Star constitutes greatness, and choose your GmSc threshold accordingly.

Ya know, if Nurkic can get his shooting sorted a bit more he'd basically be an elite role player. That's fun. Averaging a double double now, interior presence on both ends, can pass it, can't really ask for much more.

I did figure out the median last night for Book…it’s basically 23

Nurk shot 43-119 (.361) from three last year, and 70-205 (.341) over the past three years. If he could get back to that level, so defenses actually had to guard the shot, it would really open things up.

Nice to see Booker have a breakout game last night. That was the old Booker that I've missed as of late.
