4/140 for Poole and yet...I think you all can finish my sentence for me.
In a redraft of the entire league, Poole goes before Ayton.

I don't agree. I think Poole's become a little overrated at this point.

I think they would go close, probably 3rd round…maybe late 2nd.

So is defense. I'm not taking Poole before Ayton. And as we know, I'm not an Ayton fan lol.

OK, but other things are important too, like TOO said. You don't take Jordan Clarkson over Mikal Bridges.

Looking at the bench...we really lack someone that can function as point except Payne, and I think we all feel he's suspect...think that's a mistake...

I get your point, but those two players are not comparable. Clarkson is below average in almost everything he does. The only thing he does above average is take shots.

I think if you weren't a Suns or Warriors fan, most would take Poole over Ayton. I guess it depends on who you took with your first 2 picks, though.

This isn't clouded by my Suns fandom. Ayton is significantly more valuable on defense and is a pretty reliable offensive player. He's not breaking down defenses regularly, but he brings his own gravity.

I agree. Poole is a nice shooter and all, but I think Ayton brings much more to the table as an overall package.

If you already have a couple great creators and shooters on the team.

Ayton's defense is over-rated on this site. He's very good, but it isn't like he is a top 20 defensive player in the league. He has never shown the potential to be great out side of a handful of games. (I hope this changes this season and he starts dominating)

Poole is so overrated, 4/140!!!! He just became the worst contract in the league.

It’s funny that you say anything about Ayton is overrated on this site.

I think it depends on how you are answering the question. Are you speaking from your preference, or are we speculating what NBA front offices would do?

If these two teams traded each respective player, I would imagine GS would get a better return than Phoenix. There are so many centers in the league that can get you double-double, and while Ayton is better than a lot of them, he isn't a significant enough of any upgrade for a team to part with anything substantial.

Hmm. Are there 20 better defenders in the league than Ayton? I agree Ayton's defense gets overrated; he has the tools, but he has some serious mental lapses, he can get outworked, and he has these weird games where an opposing center will just light him up (looking at you, Nikola Vucevic).

But I don't know if we could come up with 20 better defenders than Ayton. That could be an interesting exercise though.

Hmm, let’s see:

1. Rudy Gobert
2. Bam Adebayo
3. Jaren Jackson Jr.
4. Robert Williams
5. Joel Embiid
6. Jarrett Allen
7. Giannis Antetokounmpo
8. Draymond Green
9. Evan Mobley
10. Marcus Smart
11. Mikal Bridges
12. Jrue Holiday
13. Matisse Thybulle
14. Ben Simmons
15. Kawhi Leonard
16. Anthony Davis
17. Jimmy Butler

I think it’s close, but I can’t come up with anymore, so he’s probably in that 15-20 range.

I was referring more to the “overpaid/not worth the contract” argument.
