The Pel's improvement depends way more on Zion than SVG.

They also need depth at the 4/5. They might target one of the veteran bigs on the market like Millsap or Ibaka. I think they just have Zion and Jaxon Hayes right now. I could also see them taking Jalen Smith in the draft.

There's also been talking of them shopping Jrue, so not sure how that plays out but you'd think they'd want to keep him around.

Any rumors about who they are targeting?

This one came out a few days ago about the Nets

https://nypost.com/2020/10/20/defensive ... ets-radar/
ESPN speculated any deal could begin with emerging wing Caris LeVert and young center Jarrett Allen
All the rumors are that the Nets are shopping some combo of Dinwiddie, Levert and Allen to get a 3rd star...Holiday, Beal, Oladipo seem to be the most talked about names in general. The Nets also seem to have cooled a lot on Allen, or maybe Kyrie or KD just don't like him. But to go with DAJ fulltime feels a bit shortsighted.

I would really love to get Dinwiddie here. Doubt Kelly would be enough for them if they are set on trying to get a 3rd star...

Yea and I imagine they're planning on re-signing Joe Harris as their shooter at the 3 spot.

Jrue is perfect for Brooklyn. He’s legitimately probably the best true 2-way player in the nba. I saw a graph yesterday showing players usage plotted against usage of player they’re defending and Jrue stood out as an outlier. I’ll see if I can find it.

Anyways, his ability to take the toughest guard assignment and play on or off the ball offensively would be huge next to Kyrie and KD, Kyrie especially.

Edit: It was in the athletic’s player tiers column.

Am I reading this correctly? Troy Daniels guards the easiest guys in the league (based on scoring usage), and Trevor Ariza guards the toughest?

Yes. So essentially I think it would mean Ariza spends the most time covering the guys to the far right of the graph.

Sounds about right given the (complete lack of) other perimeter defenders on the Blazers.

That would be a really short offseason. Aren't they worried that the players will be insufficiently rested? I thought they'd aim for somewhere closer to MLK Day or Valentine's or something.

They want to get back on the Oct-June schedule. And it’s still a solid 2 months off for the Lakers and Heat. Not to mention they had 4 month break in the spring. Though a MLK day start still seems possible to me.

It's cramming a lot in with the draft next month, free agency and then right into training camps. Some on social media are saying the NBA might've leaked this to get fan support to pressure the PA to agree to the date.

I love Amar'e but not exactly sure what he'll bring to the table there, especially if they're looking to trade Allen. Hope Nash isn't just looking to add some buddies to his staff.

That's nuts. So they are going to have the draft, FA, camp, preseason all from Nov. 18th and Dec. 22nd?

I can't see it happening. Just too much in too short amount of time. MLK Day and a 65 game season with a play-in tourney.
