That is the max the Nets can extend him in-season. As a free agent though, he'll be able to command the up to the actual max.
Okay, to be clear I would not give him the actual max

Does anyone know why dinwiddie is restricted on his extension numbers with Brooklyn? I thought it was a 2nd round pick situation where he had only played a couple years in the league. Was surprised to find out this is his 5th season.

Because he is on a min contract. Under the current CBA, extensions can be up to 20% of the player's current salary (no point in Dinwiddie's case since it is $1.6M) or up to 120% of the average NBA salary, which is whre those $47M over four years come from.

If the guy is ok with playing in PHX for those 47M, we should definitely trade the MIL pick or an eventual 1stR we could grab in an Ariza trade.

Gotcha, thanks! And I’m really surprised Brooklyn hasn’t signed him to that deal. 4/47 seems pretty fair. I’d love him at that price and think he’d help us out a lot. Dinwiddie/Booker/Ayton is a good combination of playmaker/scorers. Add versatile 3D wings like Bridges, maybe Melton, and whoever we draft(deandre hunter would be nice...Nasir little as well. Of course I’d take Zion if we landed #1)

I could get behind a Dinwiddie/Booker/Bridges/Hunter/Ayton lineup with Okobo/Melton/Jackson/Warren/Holmes off the bench. Probably have space to add a veteran 4 to fill in until Hunter is ready.

I don’t think you’re keeping your first round pick and netting DW. I think it will take that pick to get him. I would protect it top 3, this draft is weak and he is worth it especially if it means we can extend him right away at that cost.

I don’t think it will take that much. For whatever reason, Brooklyn doesn’t seem super high on him. Send Ariza to LA for KCP and a 1st. Send that with the Milwaukee 1st for Dinwiddie.

Spencer Dinwiddie is not close to worth our top-3 protected 1st rounder.

Just from having him in fantasy league last year and peeping reports every now and then. I think they don't want to go forward with both him and D'angelo . without checking stats to confirm I think early in the season not only was he just playing backup mins but his usage was also down because Nets wanted the ball in LeVert hands more
My little take on that but bottom line is I like how he plays so as I keep saying we'll soon see what comes of this whole Ariza situation

Thanks for the link. Very fair article. Kevin O'Connor proving he's the only national writer who actually watches the Suns play. And he actually *gasp* talks about some of Doncic's weaknesses.

I was watching highlights of Dinwiddie and looking at his stats. His shooting is pretty good. The assists are there this season (4.9 assists in 28.7 mpg).

Why always bring Teodosic in the discussion? Doesn't he want to go back to Europe?
