With Cam, he has 1 skill that was supposed to translate automatically. The question is, what is he doing when it doesn't translate (his shots aren't falling)? That's the downside of drafting a specialist.
You pull him. We're deep enough that we don't need to rely on him every single night. Monty's been using him specifically as a shooter to see if he can get it going. If not, he sits. But he's also not a total liability defensively or offensively and has shown some nice speed and athleticism in the open court and is smart cutting/moving without the ball. At the very least, he's a threat because of his rep as a shooter.
I'm not talking about game-to-game. I'm talking about his career.

I think 7 games into the NBA is a bit early to make assumptions about his career.
I'm not making any assumptions. I think his shot will come around. But that's not always a guarantee, even for the best college shooters.

Mikal Bridges is a good example. I thought his shooting would be automatic in the NBA. It still might, but he's really struggled there so far. The good news is, he's a terrific defender, so he bring something even when his shot is struggling. Cam has some decent secondary skills, but unless he's hitting 38%+ from deep, he's probably not bringing enough other things to the table to be playable.
Good point. Cam hasn't seemed to be a liability defensively, to this point. I think his shot will come around.

Hey, James Jones played 14 years in the NBA.

This was a painful 5 minutes. You can tell that Kellerman has never really watched Booker. And then SAS talking about which players he's proud of and disappointed in like he's their AAU coach or step-dad. Go away, dude.

When watching the games I ask myself if we are playing over our heads and will have some "coming back to earth" reality but I honestly don't think so
We are just playing hard and I like the points in this article

No surprise seeing Mikal understand he just needs to keep working and the opportunities will come

Mikal's shot is not falling, but the rest of his game is on track.

We've seen the steals. His rebounding is much better this year, and he's hitting his 2pt shots too. In 10 fewer minutes, he's giving the team the same number of rebounds, steals, 2pt shots, and nearly as many free throws.

Real impressed with his midrange right now and it's a nice surprise. Teams are going to run us off the 3pt line so being able to take 2-3-4 dribbles in and shoot that FT line/elbow jumper is big. That'll soften things up on the perimeter for him eventually.

Love his rebounding too. Sometimes you'll just see an arm fly up from under the basket in the middle of traffic, snatch a rebound and he'll come out of the pack with it. It's hard not to notice his wingspan when he's out there.

Even though I don't think Ayton's suspension is going to hurt them a great deal, since James did a good job of building up the depth in this roster, I do think that Ayton taking a huge leap is going to ultimately decide if the Suns make a huge leap. I've been pretty confident that the Suns will be winning well over 30 games this year, if Ayton truly makes the leap, we could be realistically talking about a 30+ win improvement.

This team right now without Ayton looks to be a 45 win team to me, with a Ayton that looks as good as he did in the opener, I think this is 50+ win team.

It might be useful for Ayton to have to sit and watch the Suns play hard nosed defense and get wins. Watching Baynes have a great year replacing him should be a motivation and a learning experience. I hope he comes in hungry.

A buddy of mine asked of I wanted to go to the Suns Miami game tomorrow. I said yes. He looked at seats and said there are two seats right behind the Suns bench. The price was pretty steep but, I thought about the year we are having and decided F it! i’m going!

What are you talking about, we're already on pace for a 40-win improvement, without Ayton! :P
