Suns shooting -

Bridges 2/9
Saric 2/6
Johnson 1/4
Payne 0/4
Galloway 1/5
That's what I get for questioning Monty for not playing Galloway more; two unimpressive performances in a row.

Tough loss. I really thought we were going to win this one. Three starters (Booker, Paul, Ayton) all with 20+ points. Crowder had a good game and shot well, scoring 17 with 4-6 on 3-point shooting. Ayton had a nice game and even the new guy Craig was contributing (10 points and 8 rebounds). It just felt like we were going to find a way to pull this one out.

But then ... What happened with Bridges tonight? Super weird. Payne also gave us 0 points on 0-4 shooting. Dario had 4 on 2-6 shooting. Bench in general didn't seem to have it tonight.

I wonder why Coach didn't give Kaminsky a few minutes. I liked having him in the rotation. He's no star, but I think he could have given us some energy. I also was/am happy to see Galloway play, but this wasn't one of his better games. Maybe Moore or Carter would have given us something better.

Overall I don't think we should agonize over this loss. One play goes differently and we're celebrating a win. Sometimes you lose by 1. On to the next game.

I didn't see anything from Aaron Gordon tonight that made me want to trade to get him on this team. 13 points and 7 rebounds. 5-15 shooting and 0-5 on 3s. He's a decent player but not worth breaking the bank over IMO. And his spotty shooting would hurt us.

OK it's time to stop fuckin' around and finish this team please.
Yep, we let them stick around. I knew it was too close for comfort. Instead of forcing that final shot, Booker should have shoveled it to Bridges for the wide open lay in.

Craig trying to do a little too much on some of these possessions, just needs to stick to his role.
Yeah, he hurt us at the end. That pass over the top to Ayton... the rest of the team knows not to throw that.

Suns kept up their MO of losing to bottom feeders.

If I'm reading my abacus right, losing to only bad teams means they'll go 16-0 in the playoffs.

Agree with all of this. I do think Frank might've been a decent option to switch it up, especially with Dario clearly struggling of late. We ran Craig at the 4 late in the game which I wasn't too crazy about as he's still so new and getting adjusted. I also worry he's going to bring some ugly offense to the team which we've largely avoided on our roster so far.

I know you want to beat the worst teams but I do think it's just one of those flukey things for us this year. I don't think we're taking teams lightly, playing down to them, or acting like we've arrived. You just can't win them all and tbh I'd rather beat the better teams to prove we belong than beat up on the Magic, Bulls, Kings and look like pretenders with a good record.

Watched this one on recording and yes when Monty played Book the whole 3rd and CP played like 10mins trying to gain some separation I was like Oh boy cause the game was still close.

The losing to bad teams is an unfortunate trend but if we want to say well we play up to our competition, I actually think we do so should be Ok in that regard

My concerns is that just like with Minny, this was an opportunity to see our late game stuff and again we dropped the ball. We were decent tbh, CP exploiting the PnR to cut the lead to one, Book with the tough drive and scoring his FTs but man 6secs left....

Those two out of bounds sets literally got nobody open
It was almost as if they had the play set assuming Book wouldn't have been denied hard when he came to the top going away from the basket

Too bad the trade deadline wasn't 24 hours earlier.

Book was triple teamed. That was their plan. He should have dished to an open man. Bridges was wide open but he probably couldn't see him.

I think Ayton was open in the paint, but who would trust that?

Paul is right that he needs to be in a spot where book can see him. Those are our 2 guys, and if you can just triple one of them and the other guy stays hidden, it doesn't do much good.

But if we are needing a last second shot to beat the Magic, we didn't deserve to win.

The only pass I saw Book had would've been to the corner because he was triple teamed and pinned on the baseline. Ayton was open over the top but he probably couldn't see him. Jae could've slid down to the corner and gotten a look but floated out towards the top of the key and took himself out of the play. Paul just kind of stepped in bounds and watched the play. Good learning experience tho so they can get it right next time.

Ayton had a much better chance of hitting the shot than Booker. Also, Ayton should have improvised on the first out-of-bounds throw-in and just driven it to the hoop himself when the passing lane to Booker was blocked.

He would have NEVER thought of that at this stage of development.

Yeah, did you notice how much he panicked when he received the inbound pass the first time? He was lucky to not turn the ball over.

I was surprised Monty had Ayton in the game on that possession. Dario would've been much better, but maybe their respective playing form influenced Monty's decision at that time.

Should be 11-11 now with the win against Toronto:
