Is there ANY chance whatsoever that we can get KD without giving up Bridges? Excluding Bridges is probably a non-starter for Brooklyn, but maybe JJ can work some magic.

I’d put the chances at less than 2%

I hope this means we get KD today

Technically we can get the contracts to match up without him, but I can't see that being the best deal for him (or one they would take). The only way would be if the Nets value expiring contracts instead of actual basketball talent. If that is the case to get within 75% of his 44.1M we would need 33.1M. So 3 or 4 first round picks and Crowder (10.2), Payne (6), Shamet(9.6) and Saric (9.7) and call it a day. But there is no way.

he had the no-trade clause and exercised it.
I don't think he had a no trade clause. I think he said he wouldn't sign a max extension offer with his new team, effectively blocking the trade.

Is there any chance we just trade for KD and Kyrie?

Ayton, Mikal, Crowder, Saric, Payne is like 75-80 million and KD/Kyrie is like 81 million. Throw Royce O’Neale in and I think it works. Suns include 4 1sts.

CP3/Book/CamJ/KD/????

With Kyrie/Shamet/O’Neale/Craig/Wainright off the bench.

Sign Hartenstein and Biyombo. Maybe 1 more big?

Oh, I thought that 90M contact we gave him had a no trade clause in it and he wouldn't waive it. My bad.

Can you imagine the divisiveness in our fan base? And can you imagine Kyrie off the bench?

Bridges who?

Seriously...the Nets want their culture back with hard working guys who play everyday...we have a bunch of those we can send but to gut the team for KD is 1 step forward and 2 steps back. No point in getting KD just to look like the Nets last year or the Knicks during the Melo era - with waiver/end of bench type playing major roles because there's no depth. I'd be OK with Bridges going if Cam stays because we'd still have the shooting and some defense on the perimeter. Cam may perform better defensively at the 3 instead of the 4. But you probably don't kill the deal over including both. And with CP, Book and KD on the team, there would be vets willing to take less money to play here.

Can Brooklyn go over the hard cap to add a player with a TPE? If so, this trade is still doable with just us and Brooklyn I believe

The CP3/Kyrie/Booker/KD lineups would be something haha…Throw Cam J in and the offense would be unreal. Of course the defense would be non existent.

If we're trading for KD, I would trade CP3 for Kyrie.

No. I don't think KD wants to have Kyrie anymore as a teammate.

I think he’d be fine with it if Kyrie is the 6th man

Why risk it? They already have a questionable history and do you think Kyrie is a content team player that would be fine coming off the bench as a 6th man? No thanks.

Who knows, but it’s low risk. You just let him go off and do his off the court stuff while getting paid. He wouldn’t be a focal point of the team. If he wanted to show up and play in the playoffs, then he’s a pretty nice weapon to have.

I’m operating under the assumption that Brooklyn just doesn’t want to deal with him and is attaching him as salary. We’re not really giving up assets for him. Just send him home if he’s a problem and let him expire. Or ship him to LA for Westbrook ourselves and 2 1sts to replenish our pick stock. Then tell Westbrook he can either go home or play off the bench.

If basketball was #1 on Kyrie's priority list, then yeah. But we ALL know it's not, so why bother ?

But then what does that say about our culture and how does that speak to the rest of the team, including coach, when we're letting Kyrie be a headcase all season, do his own off the court antics and then come on back and give us something when the playoffs start? Who do you run at PG all season with CP3 gone and Kyrie giving flat earther speeches downtown during games? I think it's a high risk way to lose the rest of the team.
