I know of at least one Hampton fanboy here. He plays well in the G-League but still needs quite a bit of work. There's still a good chance he's a solid rotation player in 2-3 years.

Ya RJ is interesting…he’s got the physical traits to be what we need defensively. But we don’t really have the rotation spot to develop him. I would take him though. Getting him on a cheap deal with a team option next year would be a win. I’m sure he’ll go to a team with more of a locked in role.

I had observed the high motor part and was saying he's "sticky" on D but must admit I'm surprised by his offensive game

A lot of Philly fans love him. Thoughts?

We don't have room on the roster for anybody else, unless we cut Ish.

I really, really, like Paul Reed. I think he just hasn't got the opportunity in Philly. I don't want to get rid of Ish, but if there's a way we could stash him till next season, then move on from Shamet or something else to make a spot, I'd be all about it.

FWIW, we don’t have to cut Ish…just don’t convert his 2-way contract. That’s essentially cutting him for the playoffs, but we can keep him around and make that decision later

I’m not an Ish guy, but he doesn’t suck…He’s playable. There are guys I’d prefer over him though. Stanley Johnson is one.

Sounds like something an ISH GUY would say!
He’s given pj tucker fanboys a new big hunk to root for who has no position he fits well in this league. Too slow for the 3 too short for the 4

I’d just sign the next best FA available for now and keep Ish around on the 2 way. That way he’s insurance should one of Warren, Ross, Jock, Okogie, Biyombo, D.Lee get injured. None of those guys are on contract for next year. So if they’re out for the year, you cut them and convert Ish. And you can always go back and resign them in the off-season if you want them back.

Slightly embarrassed to not know this tidbit. Now I think they will try to get one more guy.

I think he does fine on bigger wings…he’s not a negative defender. I don’t think he really adds value there but he holds up. Similar on offense. He’s shooting 34-35% from 3. He’s not really adding value, but he’s not hurting us. I’d rather play other guys, but he’s fine as an end of bench guy.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 11:31 amSounds like something an ISH GUY would say!

Ya you can always cut the new guy later and convert Ish at a later date. I do recall hearing that Ish is almost out of active days on the roster though. You only get 50 and he’s played 40…he was probably active for a few he didn’t play in as well. I’d bring in another buy-out guy, make Ish inactive for the next few weeks, and see how the new guys perform. If they struggle, you can give Ish another chance, but let’s be honest, we’re talking about a guy that shouldn’t be apart of our playoff rotation anyways.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 1:43 pmSlightly embarrassed to not know this tidbit. Locked in starters(4): CP3/Booker/KD/Ayton
Locked in bench guys(1): Payne
Then you’re looking for 3, maybe 4 out of: Warren, Shamet, Okogie, Lee, Ross, Craig, Bazley, Landale, Biz, and Ish(or new buyout guy).
I think Ish is probably at the end of that list…maybe ahead of Bazley depending on how he looks and how Monty feels about him.
Re: Around the League: Week 17 (2/6 - 2/12)
Truth be told, I’m not sure we even have a locked in playoff rotation. Those first 5 will play every game, but I could see us picking and choosing the rest of the rotation on a game by game basis.
