Re: TRADE: Ayton/Camara for Nurkic/Allen/Little/Johnson

Every thread has to be about Ayton.

I really appreciate your takes in general split but I think you are way off on Allen as a defender. He is a willing defender in the sense that Shamet is a willing defender but he’s not a net positive in that aspect. I think for the regular season he is ok because his defense is not downright atrocious like some of the other well known shooters, but we are in serious trouble if we depend on him to chase down top creators from another team.Split T wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 1:52 pmI’d start him to defend POA(Curry, Ja, Fox)…I’d throw Booker or Beal at the 3 defensively. We can always switch it up and go Little or KBD if need be for the right matchup. Okogie started a lot last year and he’s the same size as Allen.JeremyG wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 10:29 amNo way, he's much too small to start at SF.Split T wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 8:30 amAllen is the most proven shooter outside of EG in our others group. He started 131 games over the last 2 years in Milwaukee. That’s a really good Milwaukee team. He’s a consistent 40% 3pt shooter on high volume. He’s also an agressive and willing defender. His shooting also went up in the playoffs. He’s quite good and I think is being vastly underrated on this board. I don’t like him, he’s got a pretty big history of being a dirty player, but I think he’s the most likely 5th starter for us.
That might hurt your wallet worse than your brain cells. A non-traditional double double.
I’m not saying he’s a great defender, just that he’s willing and capable. I’d rather he chase around creators than Book or Beal. If we want to focus more on defense with the 5th starter then it’s probably Little or KBD…though KBD does mean Book or Beal is probably playing POA.pickle wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 6:04 amI really appreciate your takes in general split but I think you are way off on Allen as a defender. I’d probably prefer KBD or Little as the 5th starter depending on how things play out in camp and pre season.
Do you want to be part of the problem or the solution?pickle wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 5:49 amI don’t get why we care about how the Blazers use Ayton. Let the Ayton discussions just go to the Ayton thread if they can’t go away completely.
In the interest of discussing a rival NBA team’s rotations, I don’t see why Portland can’t/won’t do any of those things since their goal clearly isn’t to win. I would say this year’s Portland ~ last year’s Detroit and they ran both Wiseman and Duren at times and alternated starters and their third rotation big was Bagley.
Sorry bud, I don't remember you.JeremyG wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 9:39 amAbsolutely incredible that you still act like you don’t know who I am from the old days. I think the five stages of coping explanation makes a lot of sense so maybe we should let those stages take their course and not get in the middle of this grievance blender.
I believe the most recent place where we both posted before I joined here in 2018 was SpursTalk, and we both had around a thousand posts or more over there, so...iLLmatic wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 9:31 pmSorry bud, I don't remember you.JeremyG wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 9:39 amAbsolutely incredible that you still act like you don’t know who I am from the old days. I know you had the same username because Cubby always called you "Ill."
Wasn't that my whole point? Lol. You mentioned from the old days but never mentioned it was SpursTalk until I told you I didn't remember who you were. I'm not sure how you'd expect for me to remember another user from a different forum I used to post in years ago?JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:59 amWasn't that my whole point? Lol. It was a good time period around 2012-2013 to be honest on that forum. No idea what the old man is up to, probably 6 feet under by now would be my guess.
If you consider a few posts a day to be "active." Here's my oldest thread I could find (AIG should like this one): https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80220 Although my most famous/controversial thread was this one: https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99995
