You can’t combine TPE together and you can’t combine them with cap space. In fact you can’t use them to sign FA at all, they can only acquire players via trade. So no, that tweet is not correct.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but wasn't able to find anything to confirm that.

If we really discussing sign and trade with the pacers then why not push for a Ayton for Buddy Heild? You have to add Craig to make the money work but I like the idea of Heild more than Turner for 2 major reason.

1. Heild would solve the need of another ball handler/shot creator and if we’re losing Mikal, which is probably the case, then we replace our big hit on defense with even more elite offense. A small ball line up of CP-Heild-Book-CamJ-KD would be devastating offensively, not sure how good defensively lol but offensively idk who’s stopping that.

2. If the KD deal falls through, then adding Heild will address a big weakness and still keep us very competitive, while keep our ability to still trade for a star at a later date.

Ya I like Hield. I’ve thought about that too, especially since Gambo keeps saying we don’t like Turner

Plus you would still have the ability to trade for KD no matter what. I don’t really see the downside to be honest.

Maybe Heild wouldn’t like coming off the bench but for the first time in his career he’d be playing for a contending team and would for sure go to the playoffs for the first time in his career as well. He would be getting 25-30mins a game no matter what. Plus I’m pretty sure we will be forcing Paul to load manage this year so they’ll be plenty of opportunities to still be starting every now again.

Ya it makes a lot of sense. And maybe Brooklyn would be interested in Hield as well and then we could maybe keep Cam J or even Mikal?

I think my dream trade would be Ayton/Craig for Hield/Pick.

Then Hield/CamJ/Saric/Payne and 5 picks for KD/Mills.

Then sign say Whiteside.

CP3/Booker/Mikal/KD/Whiteside
Mills/Shamet/Okogie/Crowder/Biyombo
Lee/Wainright/Landale

You’d still have two more roster spots. I think it would be nice to upgrade the Shamet/Lee/Okogie spot. Keeping a 1st from the KD trade might help here. A stretch big would be nice too, maybe that’s Landale or maybe we go Aldridge instead of Whiteside. I still wouldn’t be surprised if we go Melo as well.

This right here, to me makes the most sense to me at this point, which pretty much means it won’t happen.

A trade exception they’ll never use? We’ve seen that happen multiple times.
A trade exception automatically converts into Bobby Saver's favorite player: Cash Considerations.
He knows if he holds onto it long enough the casual fan will forget about it

You would rather have Mikal & Ayton than KD & Ayton???

Makes a good point. Bill Duffy is the agent for both Ayton and Turner. If the suns don’t want Turner, I’m sure Indy and Duffy don’t want Turner and Ayton together so they’d probably be looking for a resolution. Finding a 3rd team that wants Turner and would give us something we want might be what’s holding everything up.

Yeah, Bill Duffy has been on the clock for weeks (months?) with this deal and now half of the league is waiting for him to do his job.

Gambo keeps saying that. Not sure how accurate it is.

I don’t really know what the suns want, but my comments were based on the assumption we don’t want him.

The Nets taking Mikal is much more realistic than them letting us keep Mikal and taking whatever we get for Ayton in a sign-and-trade (a protected pick?).

He's saying it is very unlikely we end up with KD and Ayton during the season.

Good luck with that. The Pacers have been trying to trade Turner for years.

Very unlikely is being generous. I'm saying it'll never happen.
