Booker shot 8/27...

Paul and Johnson sat out the game...

and they still won.

Because Ayton manhandled the Jazz's frontcourt.

Great game! Really good "character win" and one of DA's most dominant performances. We don't win the game without DA. He showed up from start to finish and was the most impactful player on both ends of the floor. It's never been a question of ability, so the pressure is on him to maintain the focus and activity. Book said it and most of us have said it too - it's not about the numbers, it's about the impact, force and physicality.

The Jazz have a lot of weapons who are playing really well off each other. NAW, Beasley and Clarkson hurt us on the perimeter and Sexton was a problem physically for our guards. I'm thinking Ainge sees him as his Marcus Smart type of player. We did OK on Markkanen who was also missing shots on his own. We outrebounded them but they seemed to get the bounces and offensive rebounds that led to 2nd chance points.

Book had a strong game but he's still a little off on his jumper. His overall game has really hit another level tho. He's defending, rebounding and playmaking in heavy minutes; I think he played the entire 2nd half last night?

Mikal's middy is a legit weapon now. He's also just the ironman of the league doing it everynight. We shouldn't take him for granted.

Craig played well within the game. The shot wasn't there but he was hustling, rebounding, defending. He has some Matrix to his game, just kind of playing within the flow and looking for his opportunities. Ish backed him up and gave us good minutes.

DLee was great again off the bench and had the highest net rating +9. Landry had his moments playing D on Markkanen and made a nice reverse. I still like DWJ but he was on a short leash and lost out to Shamet.

Jock was the gamechanger for us. Things just clicked with us and the Jazz weren't ready for it. Hopefully he's back out there going forward.

The super small lineup with Biz was awful, maybe it could work with Jock but it's tough to play four 6-4/6-5 guys with the same build. Our better lineups were Payne, Lee, Mikal, TC, Biz/DA and our starters with Lee/Jock.

I wanted to call out some of our bench guys who had good games. I thought Landale gave great energy off the bench. He had only 4 points, but he came in hot and fired up and it really got the crowd into it. Also, Ish Wainwright did a great budget PJ Tucker impression, hitting 2 corner 3s and proving some toughness and hustle. Pretty much exactly what I want from him. Lastly, Damion Lee is on a nice streak of games lately. His shooting numbers are crazy on the season; he's hitting 49% of his 3s on the year. He almost always makes a positive impact when he's out there, and he provides a bit of that F-U edge that we miss without Crowder. Overall really happy with these bench guys who I didn't expect very much from when the season started. We are arguably missing a high-impact 6th man right now, but we have really nice 8-11th-ish spots in the rotation.

If Ayton gave this sort of effort 70% of the time I'd be stoked. He was great, his quickness on the Vanderbilt block is nuts.

In the last 5 games (starting with the first Utah game), Ayton is averaging 20/14/4 in only 32 minutes.

On the season, DA is averaging 19.0 points and 10.4 rebounds when playing over 29 minutes.

I wouldn't mind Craig starting with Cam & Cam being our 6th and 7th guys.

Craig has been good…we could also just bring Craig in early…say at the 6 minute mark(Payne and Craig come in for CP3 and CamJ) then bring CamJ and CP3 back in when Booker/Bridges go to the bench.

I like Ayton with CP3, but we also need to develop more chemistry between Ayton and our other ball-handlers(Book, Bridges, Payne). Also, if we’re gonna play Biyombo, he needs CP3 more than Ayton does. Ayton can produce without CP3 as we’ve seen the last couple games.

I'm really happy with Craig this year. But Cam Johnson is an absolute sniper with his 3-point shooting in a way that Craig will never be. I love having him out there as a weapon. I also think that weapon is more potent when paired with a distributing PG like CP3 and a strong offensive lineup featuring guys like Book and Ayton to draw attention away from the 3-point shooter. So I'd prefer CamJ starting.

Ya I agree. The starting 5 needs to play together because that lineup will dominate teams. If CP3 ever figures out his issues, they are turning into a pretty unstoppable offensive juggernaut.

Wainwright got the ball as the offense was bogging down and the shot clock was running out. He was on the arc and promptly turned and drained a three ... good game awareness.

Is the 9 FTAs a career high?

I don’t care about the 29 pts. The best part of this game was 9 FTA and 21 rebounds

Not sure what other players did, but Ayton was 21/15 for the week. That doesn’t seem enough to get it done. Percentages are good, but his first two games of the week were low output scoring wise.

It’s Monday through Sunday. So he was 24/16 with a 3-0 record.
