If I’m trading Oubre it’s for someone with a better, team oriented mentality not for someone even more Madonna than him
Purely from a value standpoint, this is questionable to me. I have always liked Korkmaz (I used to think of him as the turkish Rudy Fernandez) but he will be UFA after one season. Dropping 11 spots is tough. I know the seconds are not inconsequential, but still seems too light, although I could see it if Jalen Smith was available at #21, but he is climbing.
I hear you. Ball's combination of height, athleticism, ball-handling, passing, and rebounding would be fantastic to build with. But none of that matters if he isn't coachable, isn't professional, and lacks maturity. And to be clear, it isn't guaranteed that he will have those issues; but I think there is enough smoke there to pass on him.Drewsprocket wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 11:43 pmYea it’s probably too great a risk. Professionalism and maturity matter. But damn he is a talent that would be nice to have on the roster with the team finally headed in the right direction.INFORMER wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 6:56 pmHow can you trust him? He just strikes me as immature and I worry about his professionalism. You're giving a teenager that can't shoot, has a meddling, delusional father, $10 million a year AND getting rid of Oubre in the process? That just seems reckless.Drewsprocket wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 11:01 pmI’d be cool trading Oubre for #2 pick and grabbing Lamelo Ball.
Valid concerns. A lot of good prospects can go before 21. And to be honest, I wouldn't even keep Korkmaz; his contract isn't guaranteed, so I would simply waive him to create cap space. But I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him either.Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 1:17 amPurely from a value standpoint, this is questionable to me. Would you do the deal with Detroit and trade the pick for Kennard? He's been one of the best shooters in the NBA since he's come in. He's also a good passer and ball mover, so essentially with him and Booker on the floor, you have your ball handlers and passers when the PG is on the bench.
Are you saying 10+Oubre for Kenard+7?In2ition wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:28 amWould you do the deal with Detroit and trade the pick for Kennard? Hmm, would depend on who’s there. Does Detroit have a 2nd? How about 10 and Jerome for Kennard + their 2nd?In2ition wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:28 amWould you do the deal with Detroit and trade the pick for Kennard? No, just 10 for Kennard.Indy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 2:07 pmAre you saying 10+Oubre for Kenard+7?In2ition wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:28 amWould you do the deal with Detroit and trade the pick for Kennard? They are both expiring, and both will be getting raises (unless the cap implodes for Kelly). The draft at least gives us salary control over our roster. I wouldn't do that deal.In2ition wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 3:47 pmNo, just 10 for Kennard.Indy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 2:07 pmAre you saying 10+Oubre for Kenard+7?In2ition wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:28 amWould you do the deal with Detroit and trade the pick for Kennard? I keep Oubre and/or use him in another trade. I could see your idea having value though. How about Jerome + 10 for Kennard?Indy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 4:04 pmThey are both expiring, and both will be getting raises (unless the cap implodes for Kelly). It depends if I have something worked out already to better control the salary cap. If Kenard was on a rookie deal with 2-3 years left, I would totally do it.In2ition wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 4:07 pmI keep Oubre and/or use him in another trade. Indeed. The team-friendly contracts of Bridges and Johnson are why we’re even considering trading Oubre. Rookie contracts are awesome if you draft the right guy.Indy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 4:04 pmThey are both expiring, and both will be getting raises (unless the cap implodes for Kelly). I guess I'm trying to build the best team possible within the cap rules as my primary plan, not staying under the cap as my primary plan. Maybe we just have different goals.Indy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 5:05 pmIt depends if I have something worked out already to better control the salary cap.
