They aren't sending a 1st for Teodosic. Settle down with that nonsense.

Suns hit road for back-to-back, will initiate more offense through rookie Ayton
https://theathletic.com/616194/2018/10/ ... kie-ayton/
While the Suns aren’t expecting playmaking guard Devin Booker to miss significant time because of a strained left hamstring, he is listed “out” for the club’s Saturday game at Memphis.

The Suns are going to have to initiate their offense through someone else. But even when Booker plays, coach Igor Kokoskov said he wants more of the offense to run through rookie center Deandre Ayton.

“We’re not changing completely what we’re doing,” Kokoskov said. “But we mentioned that the very first day of the training camp: He’s our second-best playmaker. And we play-make through our bigs.
It's good to play though Ayon, but did he say we play through our 'bigs' plural?

I had a team one year that went into the season thinking they were pretty good, but had some changes. The first game we played was an all-star team that had been playing together for years, so they had seen everything. They beat us like a drum that first game. The other team just kind of laughed at us. Instead of letting my kids get down on themselves and completely lose confidence. I told them that the other team just did us a huge favor, and it's hard to see that now, but they exploited every weakness that we had. Now, we have a plan on how to improve in about 10 different areas going forward. Slowly we worked on those things over the course of the season and didn't play that team again. We ended up winning the rest of our games, and they made quick work of all of their opponents. We made it to the championship game, but we were a much better team. After losing the first game by about 80 points, we nearly pulled out the championship game, losing by 2.

What I'm saying is, there are a lot of quick fixes and places to grow as a team. They aren't devoid of talent. Turns out Warren made a leap. I think Booker is making one too, but not being fully healthy is going to hold him back until he is. Ayton is better than expected and has a tremendous room for improvement even in the season. The problems for the most part are very fixable. If Ayton can concentrate on find and checking a guy as soon or even slightly before each shot goes up, he can give himself space, keep the man from closing the space and then explode to get the rebound. it's not that hard to change that mindset. There are some small goals to improvement that can happen.

Thanks for those stats, Bobster.

I wonder if anyone has ever put together a 20(pts)-10(reb)-60(fg%)-80(ft%) line in a season before.
20 points and 60% fg shooting is incredibly rare. Shaq and McHale each did it twice, Kareem did it once, and Wilt did it once. All of them did it later in their careers on really good teams.

If you ease up on the fg%, allowing .575, there are enough candidates to also filter by rebounds and ft%.

10 times, a player has posted at least 18 pts/g, 8 rbns/g, .575 fg%, and .750 ft%. Amare and Broccoli among them.

Nice.

No player has even posted a 20-10-55-80 season before, but 2018-19 Nikola Jokic currently qualifies.

I was going to guess Kevin McHale, and he came close - 26.1/9.9/.604/.836 in 1986-87

Imagine a guy putting up a line like that and he's not even the team's best player.

Nope.

Take out the ft% requirement and it’s been done by Wilt, Kareem, and Shaq.

If you make it 16/10/.600/.800 you get Deandre Ayton and DeAndre Jordan this season, but who knows if Jordan can keep up the FT%. Ayton may not be able to, either.

Ayton is not an empty stats player. He just has a mess around him. Ariza and Anderson have both been horrible. They both need to be benched.

Can I just say how great it is to pay $30m+ to start a pair of Houston's garbage bench forwards? Swell roster development!

Are you guys talking about Ayton on the Suns?

I was talking about that crazy stat line from McHale. I don't expect Ayton to average 20/10/.60/.80. And if he does, he's officially the best player on our team.

Anderson + Ariza + Chandler + Arthur = 56.5 Million worth of veteran leadership.
