I think a Booker on this team already makes a Bledsoe at PG easier to take. If Bender really is the passer people say he is we could be one of the better ball moving teams in the league next season. I'm not saying we'll be the Warriors right away, but I expect a vast improvement in this department.
Go Suns!

The passing I see from Bender in highlight videos reminds me a little of Oliver Miller. He just grabs a rebound and lobs the ball downcourt for a teammate on the brake. Good awareness of what his team is doing even as he is grabbing the rebound.

Laziness won't be an issue for Bender.

I think Kukoc is a good comp and Bender's ceiling.
I think that a taller Kukoc (SF/PF) is fair value for a player picked #4. If he's a hard worker, I have a hard time seeing how he wouldn't reach close to this potential without injury problems (fingers crossed), given his existing skill set and height even if he cannot add much strength. Do you see holes in this logic?

Let Bledsoe focus on the penetrate-and-dish and run a high-post passing set as an alternative, and the Suns' offense avoids getting bogged down. It might even make Knight look reasonable as a catch-and-shoot guy.

Is that because he has openly said he modeled his game on Toni Kukoc or did you all not know that? ;)
That's what I was thinking. It's no coincidence.

apples and oranges my friend.
Ha! How so? You're touting Ulis's SEC DPOY as proof that Ulis won't have an issue on the defensive end. Collegiate awards (and CONFERENCE rewards at that) really aren't evidence of what a prospect will do at the pro level.

How many NBA prospects play point guard in the SEC? Wade Baldwin?! That's about it. J.J Frazier is a very good college player, but he may not even get drafted next year.
your knocking his D, he won DPOY, has nothing to do w/ Tucker winning POY, the comparison isnt comparable.

Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:I don't get what Sacramento did in this draft. Their #1 priority seems to be keeping Boogie Cousins happy. So they draft a bunch of other big men who probably can't play on the floor at the same time as Boogie? Why? Who is making the decisions over there?
it's either stupidity, or they are preparing to Boogiexit.

When you use a collegiate award as evidence to support a point you're making, it is very reasonable to introduce that evidence that speaks to the validity of collegiate awards translating to NBA success.

I think the one article said it best. The Suns drafted the two best players available in the position they were lacking most.

They are all players. They are all projects. Nobody knows how ANY of the projects/players will turn out for ANY team.

The #1 could blow out his knee next week and be done forever. Amare was a risk. Lots of experts thought he was too young and too raw. The Suns took a gamble and even though Anare gets bad press here he wasn't a bust by any stretch of the imagination.

Someone posted some links to full Maccabi games from last season over on realgm. Bender mostly just takes corner threes but watching him on defense is pretty interesting. He moves really well and holds his own even against guards. He is really quick with the weak side help. He runs the break a few times as well and seems quite comfortable bringing the ball up the court.

Definitely a better way to get a feel for him over the highlight vids.

College DPOY awards translate decently into the NBA, but not all the time. It certainly doesn't indicate defense is going to be the problem in their NBA career.
