I can't find the post, but at one point I went through the last 30 years of so showing that the best player on championship teams were overwhelming drafted by their team (or acquired on draft night), as opposed to traded for after they were a star.Ultimately, organizations would be better served trying to build, rather than acquire star teams.

The thing is - if you draft a superstar, it's imperative to keep him happy and re-sign him. You can't do what OKC has done. I think SA is an extremely rare exception over the last 25 years. I don't know. Speedometer goes to 200.
