Suns News: Week 8 12/4-12/10
Re: Suns News: Week 8 12/4-12/10
Waiving Derrick Jones Jr. Not a fan of that move. We better get something out of Greg Monroe before the trade deadline. I imagine someone will claim Jones Jr
Re: Suns News: Week 8 12/4-12/10
Damn this front office sucks.
Maybe we resign djj to a 2-way contract and juggle again after the trade deadline?

I heard there is some rule with the 2 way contracts that prevents us from signing Jones Jr to one. He's made too much money or something.

That's too bad. I really like DJJ and think he could be a really good defender. I thought in his limited time he had already shown a lot of improvement from last season. In my opinion, he was worth keeping over James.

Jones is a great dunker and has some defensive potential, but he's not even rotation-quality for one of the worst teams in the league, so we shouldn't be too upset over him being waived. He may catch on somewhere simply because of his athleticism and potential, but there's at least a role for Mike James to play non this team. Probably not when they get a decent point guard, but they need him right now. (It's difficult to admit he's needed because he's not that good, but they have to have two point guards on the roster)
They were going to have a hard time moving anyone without having to take someone back in return, so a player was going to have to be waived at some point.

Yeah not broken up about losing a guy that doesnt play. He's an incredible athlete, but not much else. Had no business on an NBA roster IMO.
Jones and Vogel gotta go.
Re: Suns News: Week 8 12/4-12/10
Dang. I liked Jones Jr a lot. Thought he had a lot of potential and that we should have found a way to give him minutes. In my perfect world, we would not have drafted Jackson, would have taken a PG like Fox, then would have given Jones Jr our backup SF minutes behind the starter TJ Warren. But alas. I hope DJJ finds another team and makes us look stupid for letting him go. I think he can make it in the league.

I really liked DJJ and thought he played well when he was given minutes. Apparently he must not have looked as good in practice, because he really never played. I really think that Airplane Mode will catch on in the league and I hope that he can find his niche.

Yup. We should have seen that the Bledsoe / Knight experiment was over. We should have seen that Warren was going to be our 2nd best player this season.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Dang. Good luck, DJJ! I hope you make it back here in your prime.

In a perfect world we should have drafted Donovan Mitchell
Re: Suns News: Week 8 12/4-12/10
I'd rather have Mitchell.

DJJ was a redundant piece, with next to no offensive game.
If he's going to improve, he needs to go where he can play significant minutes in a number of games.
That wasn't going to happen with Phoenix.
Good luck to him.

Report: Suns converting Mike James’ two-way contract into one-year minimum deal
Mike James has been so good on his two-way contract, Suns general manager Ryan McDonough already said Phoenix would give him a standard contract.
James looks like a borderline second-string/third-string point guard. To maximize his salary, he might need to sign with a bad team that is without a better rotation-level backup. Like Phoenix.

The only thing up his sleeves are elbows. Just two regular looking elbows.Waiving Derrick Jones Jr. appears to be the simplest solution, but the athletic 20-year-old has plenty of potential. Does McDonough have something else up his sleeve?

My best insight so far is that he's got two first names in one which is pretty cool.bajanguy008 wrote:ok which of you sharp folks here gonna be able to give me some insight into who this isSuperbone wrote:
