Well, how exactly is it harder to trade Milwaukee's 1st next year instead of this year?

There's a good chance it will be a better pick next year, and if not, it will be unprotected in 2020.
Barring injuries, I can only see the Bucks young roster getting better

The Bucks were actually outscored by their opponents this year. They're basically a .500 team.

So we traded Eric Bledsoe, a decent starting NBA point guard, to a team that desperately needed one. And we got:

- half a season of Greg Monroe, who is now gone for essentially nothing
- a middling first-round pick that we can't even get to convey yet

NAILED IT, MCDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We really have no idea if it's middling or not.

I'm sure Milwaukee would have been happy to send us the 17th pick this year - they're limited now in draft choices they can send out in trades since the Suns pick could convey in 2019 or 2020.

And another injury to Parker or Bledsoe or Parker or one to Antetokounmpo could greatly increase the value of that pick.

Um. Monroe is not gone for nothing. We are gaining $15 million in cap room this summer. Whoever we sign with that cash is part of the trade. And the fact that it did not convey actually get us more cap room since we don't have a cap hold for that pick.

Let’s ask Mori this question: would you rather have Eric Bledsoe right now? Because that would have meant in all likelihood the suns winning 5-10 more games and not being in position to get at worst a top 4 pick.

I am not even a little upset about the trade, even without the pick ever conveying. A year of slightly worse suffering and a top 4 pick > Bledsoe.

That is an interesting point. We traded Bledsoe for:

1. Moving up 5 slots or so in the draft.
2. A potential 4-16 draft pick next year if it conveys.
3. $15 million in cap space.

That's a haul actually.

You all are forgetting the #1 thing we got in the Bledsoe trade.

Not having to watch Eric Bledsoe anymore.
Go Suns!

Exactly.

He was good enough to make them a little more mediocre, but he really wasn't worth the trouble.

I am all for buying out Dudley and his "veteran leadership" qualities too.

Chandler can stay, but he's only playing as a last resort. They need to use those minutes to explore other options.

I'm with you on the pick. I wouldn't mind having it in this loaded draft, but I honestly think there's a very good chance it's a higher pick in the next couple of seasons.

The greedy fan in my come draft time wants the pick to trade up, but strategically this is not a bad proposition for the franchise. It adds another great chip to throw at win now moves if desired this summer. The more I think about it, it was a rare win-win scenario for PHX. As for what we got out of Bledsoe, others have pointed at the cap space, the pick itself and not having to watch a malcontent anymore. Not bad unless you had very high expectations about what Eric Bledsoe could yield in a trade.

I don't wish that Bledsoe were still here. But I do wish that we had traded Bledsoe for a better haul. As I've said here in the past, I wish we had found a deal with Cleveland to trade Bledsoe and Josh Jackson for Kyrie Irving. I still feel that way despite the way things have turned out.

I wish we could have traded Bledsoe for Anthony Davis.

But just because I wish that deal had happened means it was ever considered or a possibility. Sometimes I think we just have to realize we're not privy to some of the realities of the business, like what all the actual offers for Bledsoe were, and what reported offers were complete BS.

I am quite happy to have JJ. Kyrie is always injured and will be a FA soon.

I still don't understand how we couldn't get Brogdon back for Bledsoe. That should've been a no-brainer.
