Wasn't that the series where that wonderful picture of Horny and Majerle running through the tunnel with huge smiles was taken? The Bobster wrote:I believe that was the playoff series where Magic had back-to-back 43-point games, but the Suns still won them both because they handled everyone else.LazarusLong wrote:Mark West's best game came on the cusp of the '90s, in the May 1990 playoffs against the Lakers.
In the first game of the series, Big Daddy destroyed Mychal Thompson and Vlade Divac by posting 24 pts., 16 rbs and 7 blocks (only one TO) in 47 minutes.
The Suns won the game and smoked the Lakers 4-1 in the series. It was one of the most dominant "big game" performances of any Suns center in franchise history.

Yes, they had lost to the Lakers in the Conference Finals the year before.

The "Cotton Express" years (1988-89 to 1991-92) were a lot of fun.

I still get the same feeling I had 28 years ago when i see this picture.
Re: 90's Night
That's one of the all-time great Suns photos.

I like to tell myself we won that game. KJ was our best player in those Rockets series
Re: 90's Night
Big Jake!!!!
i did like him and always hoped he would come around and be our big man savior. But seriously I always had to go with Majerle. Don't forget about Wayman Tisdale. What a smile! One of my favorite memories was when Joe Klein got cheap shot under the basket by Malone and got a bloody face. He wiped it off and then pushed Malone in the chest getting smearing blood all over his jersey. That was badass!
For non-player I can't pick between Al and Cotton. I loved when the two of them would do the broadcasts together. I met Al one year after a pre-season in Tucson in the back halls of the arena. We were both looking for the restroom. He was so easy to strike up a conversation with and is just an all around down to earth good guy.
I was going to college too the same time Indy was and mostly listened to the games on radio. Al made it so you could just close your eyes and you could see the game.

Re: 90's Night
last night Barkley said KD's dunk on Bron was Richard Dumas-esque. I hadn't seen this thread so was surprised when he said it was good to see him on Friday because he's not someone I hear about after his struggles....

Re: 90's Night
Dumas was incredibly talented. So was Miller. Of course the Suns never would have been in a position to draft them if they didn't have issues.
