Suns Coach 2018-19

Discussion of the league and of our favorite team.

So who do you want to see as a coach in 2018-19 (and beyond)?

Grass isn't always greener: Triano--What more could you ask with the group of guys we had this year and the development we have seen?

Mike Budenholzer is my top guy now. He took freaking Atlanta to the playoffs 4 out of 5 seasons there, even winning 60 games a few years back.

If I were the GM, he wouldn't make it home from his office in Atlanta before he heard from me.

If he's let go, of course.

I wonder if ATL would let him go or if they’d ask for a trade.

If we could get Bud, he would be head and shoulders above any other candidate. I would be ecstatic if we got him. Would take him over Fizdale or Clifford, my #2-#3 choices right now.

I hope they have done their interview with Triano already. Because then then can offer the job to Bud immediately. He has everything the Suns are looking for. He would probably be smart enough to keep Triano as well.

I wonder what sort of compensation Atlanta will be looking for.

The more things I peep at it seems "granted permission" to speak with us is interpreted as We are seen as a team they think could give them back something in return like the Doc Rivers - Clippers scenario.

Or not have to pay him the $14 mil that they owe him for the next 2 seasons as they bottom out, but who knows...

Good move. I love the fact the he's spent so much time with Popovich, who is one of the very best coaches. Let's hope he's our man and it doesn't take too long or cost too much (compensation to Hawks)

I'm not trading a first for a coach unless he's a no doubt elite coach like Brad Stevens.

I agree, I don't think this is necessary yet.

A first round pick for basically any coach is not a good idea. Time and time again we've seen coaches fall out of favor with the players and/or organization when everything seemed rosy just a season ago.

You get Bud? Holy crap. That's so out of left field and would be amazing for our team. He's a fantastic coach with close ties to Kawhi.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

These are terrific news. All in for Buden. Break the bank. As for paying a 1stR pick for him, I'd have to see a heavy protection but I am not opposed to it by principle. HC is the second most important move we are going to do this summer and there are not more than 5 coaches or so I'd have over Buden.

If we actually get him, I could totally ser us trading for Millsap for a reunion since Denver didn't make the playoffs and could have buyer's remorse.

Feels good to see how they are trying to do things that make sense towards getting serious about winning.
