Is there really anything they can do to NBA players? It might impact the college players mentioned, but I don't see what they can do to the guys no longer in college. They took away Reggie Bush's Heisman, but everyone still knows he was the best college football player that year.

I don't see why it would have any NBA impact other than perhaps hastening the end of the ludicrous age limitations currently in play. There might also be some uncomfortable conversations with the IRS for those families that took cash and failed to declare.

Not really. Anyone who has made it to the NBA can easily afford the back taxes, interest, and penalties. Which means there will be no criminal prosecutions. They’d rather have the money.

Yep. Sean Miller will be fired by the morning if he hasn't resigned.

I hear Mike Bibby is a good coach...and recruiter.

Sean Miller has always been a shitty coach. Now we have confirmation of exactly how much of a lying jackass he really is. Good riddance. (This coming from a lifelong U of A fan and alumni)

So, where did that $100K go? To Ayton and his family? As someone who’s been really excited about the possibility of Ayton, I don’t like to hear news that reflects poorly on his character. Major, major bummer.

I would guess either an AAU representative or a family member. What we've been seeing up to now is individuals looking for an "in" to be the player's agent footing the money which went to whomever was in the position of influencing the player's decision, with a coach showing their gratitude for the delivery of the player by steering him to the prospective agent.

The only way it would make sense to me for the money to be coming directly from the coach and going to the family is if it were money were supplied by boosters and completely under the table.

Of course where the money went could certainly affect Ayton's standing with the NCAA. If he new about the money I would certainly hope he would be ruled ineligible immediately.

My question is - With all this money flying around, when is the IRS going to get involved and start prosecuting some of these people for tax evasion?

Also, I would be surprised if this isn't a common occurrence with top recruits. Schools, coaches, boosters, players and now agents have found ways to manipulate the system going all the way back to the 1940s, so unless there is a fundamental change in college sports it's not going to end here.

Bottom line: is there anything implicating Ayton in any wrongdoing?

It might be time to just get rid of college basketball, at least in the way we know it. I'm in favor of removing all age restrictions and making the g league into a true minor league. Let them make money and let the NBA take more control over their development at a younger age.

I haven't seen anything specific on who got that 100,000. Still I have no issues with these athletes taking money. They should be paid anyways.

Miller's gotta be out over this, right? What an embarrassment for the U of A. We can talk all we want about what the rules *should* be. But if the rules are that you don't pay them, then you don't sneak around and pay them. That's it. Would much rather have a middling team that played by the rules than get a top recruit by cheating. Huge black mark on our university and our basketball history.

NCAA said it's up to Arizona whether Miller and Ayton continue to be a part of the team. Gotta think Arizona distances themselves from those two. The NCAA penalties, when they come down, would be a lot worse if they keep playing Ayton and letting Miller coach

Well seems like he got his bases more than covered. That is crazy, never heard such clauses in a contract. This is becoming a crazy story
