It's crazy that we might end up with Beverley, Ariza, and Anderson. Do we have some kind of fetish for former Rockets players?

So... just like Tyson Chandler?Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 6:37 pmThat's not a good deal for the Suns. Boban is useless outside of the random night every other month when he goes off.Shabazz wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 5:51 pmWhat about something like Chandler/Daniels and our unprotected 2nd rounder for Beverly/Boban/Wesley Johnson (who'd be waived)? This way we save them about $2M in salary and clear a roster log-jam for them in addition to the asset.
One issue would be we'd almost certainly be an over-the-cap team to start the season and that would limit our offer to Melton.

It would be weird to go into the season with more Rockets on the roster than Wildcats.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 6:59 pmIt's crazy that we might end up with Beverley, Ariza, and Anderson. Do we have some kind of fetish for former Rockets players?

Yes, but I'd rather have Chandler helping Ayton than Boban.Shabazz wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 7:06 pmSo... just like Tyson Chandler?Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 6:37 pmThat's not a good deal for the Suns. We have Holmes. I'm fine with Boban as a 3rd stringer. Like you said he has a function every now and then.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Ariza, Anderson, Melton, Bridges, Shaq, and Okobo were all at the DBacks game tonight with Ariza throwing out the first pitch.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Boban is a sneaky way to add value, but I am afraid I still have to hard pass. A 1stR for current Beverly is a risk we just shouldn't take. If he had not have a serious knee injury, then maybe I could talk myself into it (but probably not anyway, with that expiring contract).jonh wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 3:36 pmHere is a trade scenario proposed on the RealGM board (credit to Kerrsed for proposing it):
Patrick Beverly/Boban
for
Chandler/Bucks 1st. (or 2nd round pick)
The trade removes some of the logjam in the Clipper's backcourt and allows them to reduce their roster. Chandler replaces Boban in the scenario. The trade is definitely a win for the Clippers, and is more risky for the Suns, as they are rolling the dice that Beverly's production isn't going to drop dramatically.
If they don't want a couple of 2ndR (granted, no protection bullsh¡t), there shouldn't be an agreement to reach from our part, which I reckon is perfectly fine with them since they seem to love Beverly (featured him a lot last year in media and team events, despite the injury). So my guess is that they are more than ok just keeping him. And we should be equally ok just keeping the pick.
Some other options: Indiana lowkey has Collison, Joseph and Holiday. Toronto is not short on PGs either (Delon Wright is clearly the odd man out). Washington has a bunch as well and are in cap hell (Satoransky is entering RFA next summer).

Ariza played the 3rd most minutes of anyone in Houston last year, and Anderson was 7th. Neither were close to the end of the bench.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 2:52 pmHey look, the end of the Houston Rockets bench went to a Diamondbacks game!

It was just a troll post. I do think it's funny how many former Rockets we are stockpiling. There are worse teams to grab talent from than Houston.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
I thought it was really cool when the Mavs had Nash, Finley, Ceballos, Green and Hot Rod. They stockpiled a whole lineup of former Suns. They also had Donnie Nelson serving as an assistant coach. Two seasons earlier, all six had been with us on the team that started 0-13 before we sent Finley and Green to Dallas.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 9:28 amIt was just a troll post. Yup. Would have been hard not to. And to be fair, Hot Rod wasn’t around for the streak (he missed it with injury), and neither was Ceballos, who arrived in a trade about the same time Finley and Green were sent out.

Hated that Finley trade at the time, still do.
