Warriors win Game 1. Home court advantage reclaimed. Man, watching that, it felt like an old Suns/Spurs matchup, with the Warriors playing the role of the Spurs. Houston had all the D'Antoni/Suns hallmarks: showing a lot of offense and energy early, but then feeling it slip away. The crowd even felt like a Phoenix crowd, with their sphincters slowly tightening as the second half got rolling.

The pairing of CPMe, Harden & D'Antoni is prime choke material.
Go Suns!

Well, yeah, you try to fit three people into a pair, and of course it’s going to be a choke point.

Difference between the old Suns teams and this Rockets team is rim protection/rebounding. Rockets have Capela while the Suns has nobody.

HOU still needs a third star. Harden-Paul is nice but sadly not enough against these Warriors. The NBPA really screwed the league balance by refusing a smooth cap increase in 2016...

Problem is, they are paying Ryan Anderson like a star. Because they panicked and offered too big a contract to a big guy who 'fit their system perfectly', but turned out to not be the right piece for them.

Agreed on Anderson. His contract is another absurd product of the cap spike in 2016, with two years remaining after this season at 20M and 21M. I guess if they surrender a couple of 1stR (at least one unprotected) they could use it in a move for a star that forces his way to HOU.

They still need to pay Paul, Capela and Ariza, though. Their cap landscape doesn't look bright.

More than 20 million under the cap this summer, and your statement is totally accurate. Crazy. Plus they have 5 other empty roster spots to fill. Assuming Paul + Capella get big deals, a new guy on a mid level contract, and about that much for Ariza, they will hand out another 70-80 million this summer.

But they are a good enough team that one good mid level signing could make a big difference.

I hate Durant and the Warriors so much. They're playing with a stacked deck the likes of which have never been seen before. (Yeah, I'm not talking about the Dream Team but just a regular season NBA team.) I hate the new balance of (lack thereof) power. It just makes the NBA a joke. Maybe the NBA will figure it out after they win 5+ championships in a row.

Yep, will give them 3 of 4. And they'll be heavy favorites again next year as they bring everyone back. And if Klay signs his rumored discount extension, they'll bring everyone back for 2019-2020 as well.

What happens with LeBron this summer is probably the only thing other than injuries that could keep GSW from winning 4 or 5 titles.

Maybe! They sure hope so.

It's very uncharacteristic of you to be upset about something that hasn't happened yet and may not happen at all. Why choose to be mad about this instead of your normal "just enjoy the ride" approach? Is it just the fun of hating the villain? Not calling you out, I'm just curious what the juice is for you.
