Draft Trade Scenarios

Post by O_Gardino »

A lot of people have posted their hope to trade up and get one more lottery pick. A few have mentioned trading down for an extra asset.

Post your specific trade scenarios or your baseless hunches here.

Here is the full 1st round order. Bold teams are ones I think are more likely to make a trade.

1 Phoenix Suns
2 Sacramento Kings
3 Atlanta Hawks
4 Memphis Grizzlies
5 Dallas Mavericks
6 Orlando Magic
7 Chicago Bulls
8 Cleveland Cavaliers
9 New York Knicks
10 Philadelphia 76ers
11 Charlotte Hornets
12 Los Angeles Clippers
13 Los Angeles Clippers
14 Denver Nuggets
15 Washington Wizards
16 Phoenix Suns
17 Milwaukee Bucks
18 San Antonio Spurs
19 Atlanta Hawks
20 Minnesota Timberwolves
21 Utah Jazz
22 Chicago Bulls
23 Indiana Pacers
24 Portland Trail Blazers
25 Los Angeles Lakers
26 Philadelphia 76ers
27 Boston Celtics
28 Golden State Warriors
29 Brooklyn Nets
30 Atlanta Hawks

We could definitely hop up 4 spots to #12 if we give up #16 and #31. That might be high enough for a shot at Shai or Sexton. I wonder if we can get as high as #10 though. Would be amazing to walk away with Mikal Bridges if we are definitely selecting Ayton.

Would you be willing to take on the Hornets long term money plus Kemba in exchange for Warren/Expirings and moving up from 16 to 11?

DON’T TRADE FOR BRANDON KNIGHT!!!

Maybe if we all scream it loud enough, McD will be able to hear us in the past.

God, can you imagine having 1, 10, and 16 in this draft?

What about something along the lines of TJ & 16 for Patrick Beverly and 12?

Hmmmm...what if you could turn the #1 into a pkg that netted you Bambs and Trae Young?

You just never let it go. And why should you? That trade was a turd sandwich all the way.

I would love to get Bamba, even if we draft Ayton.

He's a beast...Trae's a longshot, but if we.take Aaron Holiday with Ayton I'm cool. I like Bambs too though...hell, Ayton or Bamba are interesting as bigs...I think there's always the intangibles about who best make the jump. Just for Christ's sake, leave Sexton and Shai on the boards.

Hell no.

The only players I am okay with walking away from this draft with for that pick are:

Ayton
Doncic
Anthony Davis
Kawhi Leonard if he is healthy physically and mentally and signs a long-term deal
Greek Freak

That's about it.

Except we without BK we might not have ended up with 1 this year

Good point. I’ve watched enough Star Trek, I should know better than to violate the Temporal Prime Directive.

I convince the Doncic team to force teams to not draft him. This should work as he has the leverage of threatening to stay in Europe for 4 years. Also, this is a great class and positional needs of teams to figure he's not worth the problems.

Then, I target a disappointed Memphis team that dropped to 4th. We know they need cap relief. We know they will be automatically be better when Conley comes back from injury. They also need a lot of young talent at sf and pf. Along with a enticement of rebuilding while not having to tank.

Ultimately, I offer Warren, Chriss, #16 and Mil '19, Phx '20, and possibly Miami '21 picks for #4 and Chandler Parsons.

That actually might be way too much, so it could be paired back a bit. And if Doncic doesn't fall to 4, Young would probably be available and offer less. Young would be amazing too with Booker, Jackson, Ayton, Bender/Chriss and FAs available.

I want to see our version of a Jordan/Pippen with Bird/McHale/Parrish or Drexler/Hakeem or Magic/Worthy/Kareem or Kobe/Shaq. Whatever type of combos that Doncic/Booker/Jackson/Ayton turns into.

If Memphis is “disappointed” that they dropped to 4th, it’s because they were hoping to be in position to draft Doncic or Ayton. If Doncic is available at 4, they grab him, they don’t trade him for cap relief and a pu-pu platter.

Not that “Doncic tanks his way to 4” is realistic in the first place.
