So, the championship game is going to be a repeat of last year. Blazers vs. Lakers.
I've watched both and they are both pretty good. I do think the Suns were the best team when at full strength though. Their defense just shut down people inside and out. If it weren't for having to deal with crappy offensive games from Josh and Dragan here and there, they would have won every game by 20+. Unfortunately, they lost Okobo in a game unexpectedly and let that 76er team go on a run. Actually, I think it was for the best, as winning the Summer League title means squat and there was nothing to prove after the first 3 games. I'd rather not take a chance that anyone gets hurt anymore.
Yeah, plus the other teams seem to have shut down their bigs too. It might have been fun but eh. On to bigger and better things.

My only complaint was not running more offense thru Bender when Ayton was out. I totally get Igor wanting us to run his offense and his sets were really great. It wasn't about singling any one player out to get them shots. But in the last game with no Ayton, Jackson or Okobo, I thought he could've made it a point to get Bender some looks through the offense - curling off screens, pick and pops, post ups.

Well it is confirmed. Suns messed up by drafting Ayton. Should’ve drafted Carter, Knox or Sexxxton. Ayton hatred of America and Paul Rudd should’ve been a red flag from begining.

I guess we'll only be able to post things praising Ayton in order to avoid the preemptive sarcasm aimed at drowning out any criticism.

The Sexton hype is hilarious because he flexed while guarding Josh Hart in SL.

I think we had a a poster or two make some outrageous negative comments about Ayton, but I think we can move on from that.

Well, Archie Goodwin is an NBA Summer League champion. The Blazers led it wire to wire and it was never close after they pulled away. League MVP Josh Hart had a rough night and got ejected with about 4 minutes remaining for continuously jawing at the ref.

I think we can all take a deep breath now and admit to our selves that Summer League is essentially much ado about nothing.

It's important only to fringe placers looking for preseason camp invites or G-League contracts or contracts overseas.

There's a minimal amount of development done for the players in the league.

You just have to appreciate it for what it is. It doesn't translate directly to NBA outcomes, but it can be a place for players to work on various skills or show off what they've been practicing. It can be a chance for a guy to make an NBA roster. It can be a motivating tool to keep young players practicing and training during the offseason. It can be a structured environment for young guys to get to know each other, the coach, and the plays. And it's a way to see the new guys your team just drafted get some NBA ish minutes. So it's worth something.

I feel like people who complain about summer league being worthless don't really seem to understand what it is and what it isn't. If you expect the wrong things from summer league, yes, it'll disappoint you. But if you appreciate it for what it is, it's an interesting and meaningful part of the year-round NBA season.

Suns Summer league player stats.
http://www.nba.com/summerleague/2018/pl ... ague=vegas
Takeaways:

* We talk about DA’s “playmaking” ability to draw double teams and pass out of them, but he didn’t have a single assist during the entire SL.

* JJ’s numbers are embarrassing.

Not his fault. Had a lot of nice passes. No one made a shot

Agreed. I'm flushing his regrettable summer league stint and just hoping for significant improvement come October.
