All Things Ayton
Re: All Things Ayton
I'd still take Nurk. He's not as good as DA but I never questioned Nurk's effort and I think he's a better teammate.

You say that like Nurk’s scoring is better than DA’s scoring.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 7:11 amQ: Would you guys trade Ayton straight up for Nurkic right now? Keep their salaries as-is; no picks, no other players. Such a trade doesn't work under the CBA, of course, so this is purely a hypothetical. We'd inherit DA's entire $34m salary which would increase our tax/apron penalty even further. Would you rather have him here than Nurkic, given the other players on our roster for the coming season? I think I would, since I think DA's defense would be more useful to us next year than Nurk's scoring and passing, but I can see argument for the other side.

Re: All Things Ayton
Nurk was more important when we didn’t have a pg…his scoring isn’t good. He does set good screens, but that won’t matter much if no one guards him. I would definitely prefer a true rim runner at this point.

Re: All Things Ayton
Nurkic was the best rebounder in the league which this team doesn't really get anywhere else. Plus, he's the only real bulk we had to match up to the big centers in the league.

Ayton is pretty close to him in both those areas
Re: All Things Ayton
There is zero chance I'd rely on that guy again. No shot, enjoy basketball purgatory.
Re: All Things Ayton
No way I would bring back a guy who isn't naturally competitive and already got his payday.

By no means do I really want Ayton…but I don’t want Nurk either…Ayton at least theoretically does what we need. But it’s pointless to discuss…he can’t come back and my willingness to take him back was contingent on him and Book being ok with it…I doubt Ayton wants back.

Re: All Things Ayton
I'd only take Ayton back if he'd consider a trial of HIMS
Re: All Things Ayton
I’m pretty sure one of Ayton’s issues was Monty.Split T wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 9:43 amBy no means do I really want Ayton…but I don’t want Nurk either…Ayton at least theoretically does what we need. Re: All Things Ayton
Monty definitely was a huge issue…I think role was the biggest and his role wouldn’t be different…we’d still want him to set screens and roll…not a lot of touches.
Re: All Things Ayton
They would ask him to catch the ball on PnRs and finish through contact, and that would be a deal breaker for Ayton. If he caught the ball cleanly all the time, he would get twice the number of touches, imo.
